Some of my clients always tell me that "buying insurance is useless". Of course, this question is not valid. Because we say "insurance is also money", everyone needs money, so everyone needs insurance.
People need money the most when they are in the most difficult times, when disaster strikes, and insurance is a large amount of emergency cash, which can be paid out at the critical moment. Therefore, there is no doubt that insurance is useful.
But if the customer said that insurance is not useful, it is from his point of view, that is, he bought insurance, but never out of the risk, the money seems to be useless, then we have to say today, it is best to buy insurance.
Buying accident insurance is always useless, proving that we are very safe, no accidents;
Buying critical illness insurance is useless, proving that we are healthy, no cancer and other major diseases;
Buying hospitalization medical insurance does not work, proving that we do not even have colds and fevers, minor illnesses and minor disasters.
Buying pension insurance, if one day you feel useless, proves that you have a lot of pension, you do not lack of money. For example, if the insurance company gives you 5,000 dollars and you feel useless, it proves that your monthly income is as high as tens of thousands, or even more than a hundred thousand;
If you buy education insurance, if you feel useless, it proves that when your children go to school, we parents have enough ability to pay for their children's tuition. It doesn't matter if the money is there or not.
So, you will find that buying insurance "nothing is good, nothing is nothing", as we always say. The fact that buying insurance makes us feel useless just proves that it's not a bad thing that we're healthy, safe, and rich.
02
Our desire to buy insurance, the original purpose of buying insurance is to prevent something (that is, risky accidents), there is no money to deal with the financial problems of the risk after the occurrence of an accident. No one wants an accident.
So having insurance doesn't work, it just proves that none of the things we were worried about happened, but the fact that it didn't happen is a good thing not a bad thing.
So many times we have a psychological misunderstanding that we always feel that our money is wasted. You can find people particularly conflicted at times. They insure their cars and they are safe for a year. It costs 7 or 8 thousand dollars and nobody regrets it because they feel that human safety is more important than anything else.
But when you buy insurance for people and spend thousands of dollars on hospitalized health care, you regret not getting sick for a year and feel like it was a waste of money.
In fact, car insurance, hospitalization insurance, accident insurance are all consumer-oriented, nothing to throw away. But a lot of people feel indifferent about car insurance and instead feel bad about the insurance they buy.
I'm sure many people are willing to burn incense in a temple, and it's normal to spend 1,200 dollars on burning a single joss stick. After burning incense, we pray for our safety and health. If we are safe and healthy for a year, we all thank the Bodhisattva for his blessings and feel that the gods in this temple are very spiritual.
But if we burn incense or if something catastrophic happens, I'm sure no one will blame the bodhisattva, blame the temple for failing, or go back to the temple for money.
The truth is actually the same. Why do we think this way this time and that way that time? It's the misconception of our thinking, the tangle of our emotions, the conflict within ourselves.
In fact, the purpose of buying insurance and burning incense and worshipping Buddha are the same, both to solve problems, but which method is more effective? We need to think independently.
03
We once said that the result of buying insurance is "loss is gain, gain is loss".
Who makes money buying insurance? Just bought insurance and soon out of danger. Premiums become coverage, tens of millions of dollars in payouts become dozens of times. I believe the onlookers will say, "It's so appropriate. It turned into so much money at once, and there's no shortage of money!" But for the family, the son may have lost his father, the wife lost her husband, the parents lost their son, and the insured lost the opportunity to earn hundreds of thousands, millions or even tens of millions of dollars for decades, which is actually a loss.
What kind of people buy insurance will have a sense of loss? It is that I am still seventy years old, eighty years old in good health, ninety years old can still square dance, a lifetime of peace, spent a lot of premiums, once not used.
In fact, we earn a lot of salary, 300,000 a year, 30 years 9 million. We also won the family happiness, gained health, enjoy life. In fact, what is lost is exactly what is gained!
So insurance can't be counted separately, it has to be counted together with life. With proper insurance, life may not be appropriate, perhaps because of illness, accident or death.
When life is right, it means we are healthy, safe and live long. Insurance may seem inappropriate and not as leveraged as it could be. Premiums and coverage may be about the same. It actually means we have added a savings in disguise, which is not bad for us.
So there are only two outcomes of buying insurance, either it is icing on the cake or it is a blessing in disguise, that is, it is useless to buy insurance for the rest of our lives, and it does not do us any harm to save more money.
But once a risk arises, the premium becomes the sum assured, which can help us solve our financial problems in an instant, allowing us to tide over the difficult times when the economy is experiencing a disaster, and to see hope in times of despair. This is precisely the beauty of insurance.
We can understand that the selection error of "it is useless to buy insurance" is much smaller than the selection error of "there is no money for the risk of not having insurance".
"Two benefits are more important than others, and two disadvantages are less important than others." So while it may be normal for us not to buy insurance, it is absolutely right to buy it.
That's all for today, thank you!
