Shenze "North Pole Terrace", also called "Zhenwu Temple", was built in Ming Jiajing 41 years (1562), more than 400 years ago, is a very outstanding ancient architectural complex. Since it occupies the position of the north gate of the ancient city wall of Shenze, the ancient county town of Shenze had only east, west and south gates, but no north gate.
Toward the end of the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, the county magistrate of Shenze, who had been collecting money and doing a lot of evils, feared that he was going to be retributed sooner or later, so he went around looking for the art of ascending to heaven. A Taoist priest told the magistrate to build a platform for ascension and then capture a hundred children to sacrifice to the gods. The North Star Monarch sent heavenly chickens to save the people and children. Later, in order to appreciate the saving grace of the North Star Monarch, this ascension platform was called the North Pole Platform.
