The History and Culture of Baifu Town

Baifutu Town has a long history and rich cultural connotation. As early as the Neolithic Age, our ancestors worked hard and thrived here. People living in this land have created splendid material civilization and spiritual civilization through long-term hard struggle. Up to now, Chengwu University still has many historical relics since primitive society. There are 27 provincial, county (city) level key cultural relics protection units in the county, including 4 provincial key cultural relics protection units, 23 county (city) level key cultural relics protection units, more than 30 other known cultural relics sites, 2 important stone carvings in Shandong Province and 0/40 precious historical relics.

Historical relics are the witness of the Chinese nation, the material carrier of our ancestors' excellent ideology and culture, and the precious wealth of the construction of two civilizations, especially as physical teaching materials for patriotism education and love for hometown education for young people. In order to further strengthen the protection and management of cultural sites and all kinds of cultural relics in our county, Chengwu Cultural Relics Management Office was established in April, 1998, with 9 full-time cultural relics management personnel responsible for the protection and management of all cultural sites in this area, the collection and management of cultural relics in the county, and all law enforcement work involving cultural relics.

There are many historical and cultural sites in Chengwu, covering eleven towns in the county, which have high research value in archaeology, history and Buddhism. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, China had cities of considerable scale. In addition to the cultural relics unearthed in the county, it shows that this is the ancient city of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, as well as the ruins of the ancient city in the early Zhou Dynasty. Nearly 50 kilograms and a half taels of money have been unearthed in the north of the city, and a large number of dense ceramic tube wells have been unearthed in the south of the city, which shows the exquisite craftsmanship and superb drilling technology. There are many stone reliefs unearthed in Datianji, Baifutu and other towns in the east, including flowers and birds, which are rough and simple with high attainments. Located in Jidong, Daejeon, the tower is of all-stone structure, simple and elegant. It was built in the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty and is unique in southwest Shandong. There are many stone carvings in China, such as Zhang Shou tombstone in Han Dynasty, Confucius Temple monument in Tang Dynasty, Huanghua poem monument with vigorous and unique words, Zhangcheng tombstone without Zhao Mengfu's book, and three rare Buddhist scriptures in China. There are thousands of persimmon trees, Tang Huai trees, ancient Gleditsia sinensis, Dalbergia Dalbergia and other rare tree species, all of which add a lot of color to Chengwu's ancient cultural heritage and leave immeasurable cultural and spiritual wealth to future generations. Baifutu Town, which is located in the hometown of operas in southwest Shandong, has become a martial art form. There are many kinds of local operas, including Sipingdiao, Dapingdiao, Henan Opera, Heizi Opera, Bangzi Opera and Erxian Opera.

Siping Tune: It evolved from the "Flower Drum" in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period. Popular in Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui provinces, Chengwu Siping Troupe was founded before the founding of the People's Republic of China and later renamed Wusiping Troupe. The late famous artists Zhen Youming, Wang Guifang and Wang Shijun of Chengwu Siping Opera Troupe are the founders of Siping Opera. Wang Fengyun, a national first-class actor of Siping Troupe in the county, inherited her mother Wang Guifang's efforts and practice in singing art, boldly innovated and formed her own unique artistic style. He has participated in many provincial performances and won awards, and is deeply loved by people in Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui. Siping Opera is a rare kind of opera, and Chengwu Siping Opera Troupe is the only county-level Siping Opera Troupe preserved in China. With the strong support of the county party committee and government, Siping Opera Troupe will face the broad masses of the people with a brand-new look. We look forward to the re-creation of this rare drama "Siping Tune".

Chengwu is also popular with Dapingdiao and Henan Opera, Chengwu Wenshang Dapingdiao Opera Troupe, Tiangong Xiaojinyu Henan Opera Troupe and Datianji Popular Henan Opera Troupe. Although they are all amateur theatrical troupes, they have been active in rural areas for many years and contributed their own strength to the cultural life of the active rural people. There are Heizai Drum, Shandong Qin Shu, Shandong Tiezi, ancient paintings, big drums, fishing drums, storytelling, pendants and so on.

Due to various factors, few people sing other kinds of songs except storytelling and pendants. Black drum is a rare music, and few people can sing it. If it is not rescued, it will become extinct.
