There is a special line bus for Huangyao Ancient Town at the exit of the high-speed railway station (30 yuan).
Huangyao Ancient Town is located in the northeastern part of Zhaoping County, Hezhou, Guangxi, 40 kilometers away from the downtown of Hezhou City and 200 kilometers away from Guilin.
Huangyao Ancient Town is 3.6 kilometers in circumference and belongs to karst landscape. It was founded in the Song Dynasty and has a history of nearly 1,000 years. The natural landscape has eight major scenes and twenty-four minor scenes; there are more than 20 preserved temples and shrines, and more than 10 pavilions, most of which are Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings. Famous attractions are the old site of Guangxi Provincial Labor Committee, the ancient theater, Anle Temple and so on.
Huangyao Ancient Town was listed as one of the third batch of "Famous Historical and Cultural Towns of China" by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2007; and was approved as a 4A scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration in 2009.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year every year, the residents of Huangyao Ancient Town spontaneously gather together to participate in the fish dance, dragon dance, lion dance,
Turtle and mussel dance, as well as the performance of the light on the formation, the five-flower formation, lanterns, and other traditional activities,*** with the blessing of the New Year, to celebrate the New Year. The lamp-carrying party, also known locally as the Fish and Dragon Dance, consists of a parade of thousands of performers who march forward to show the audience nearly 20 traditional local folk performances such as the Light Pairing Formation, the Suona, the lamp-carrying, the Five-Flower Formation, the Costume Decorating, the Mansion, the Costume Dragons, the Dance of the Bench Dragon, the Lion Dance, the Fish Dance, the Dragon Dance and other traditional local folk performances.
