Kang Hu Ecological Civilization Demonstration Zone in Handan starts from Kangzhuang Reservoir in the west, east to Huancheng Expressway, south to Laolanggou Reservoir and north to Hanwu Expressway, with a total planned area of 20,000 mu. One of the core attractions is the Grand Aqueduct.
The aqueduct is about 5 meters wide and 570 meters long, and the starting diversion tower is about 17 meters high. It was built by the working people of Kangzhuang Town in 1970s with gray bricks and red stones. The words "Long live Chairman Mao" are written on the water diversion tower, which is a water conservancy cultural relic in the 1970s. When completed, it will be used to irrigate the farmland around Kangzhuang Lake. With the progress of agricultural irrigation technology, it gradually withdrew from the historical stage.
With the concept of "ecological beauty area" put forward, the drastic reform of the whole area has gradually changed from the busy scene of surrounding coal mines and steel mills to a vibrant ecological area, showing the transformation of Fuxing District from agricultural industry to ecology. The magnificent aqueduct witnessed all this, and at the same time demonstrated the diligent pursuit of ecological civilization by the people of Handan.
How was the Kangzhuang Aqueduct built?
The Kangzhuang Aqueduct, with a total length of more than 600 meters and a maximum height of13m, is an important water conservancy project in Kangzhuang Reservoir Irrigation District of Fuxing District. It is understood that these water conservancy facilities did not exist before, and irrigation depends entirely on carrying water. After the completion of Kangzhuang aqueduct, it will be of great help to the whole irrigation area.
Aqueducts are mainly made of stones, all of which are artificially polished, and most of the builders come from all walks of life. At that time, it was all shouldered and carried by simple machinery. Under difficult historical conditions, they gave full play to their wisdom and built the bridge with their own hands. Nearly half a century has passed, and the builders of that year have also changed from young people in their prime to elderly people in their prime. They have shown their hard work, selfless dedication and hard work.
