The opera Honghu Red Guard took place in Hubei Province.
The Red Guard of Honghu Lake is an opera first rehearsed in 1958, and in October 1959 the opera was first performed in Beijing as a dedication to the 10th anniversary of the National Day in Hubei Province.
"Honghu Red Guards" is based on a true story of the revolutionary base in western Hunan-Erkhang province, and tells the story of the local revolutionary armed forces, Honghu Red Guards, led by Han Ying and Liu Bao, who skillfully maneuvered with the enemy and dealt a painful blow to the enemy by using the lake area in the summer of 1930 during the period of the Domestic Revolutionary War in the Honghu area of Hubei province.
Re-enactment of Honghu Red Guard
In 1999, Hubei Provincial Opera and Dance Drama Theatre re-enacted the public performance of Honghu Red Guard, with a condensed plot, streamlined lines, and exquisite choreography, especially the familiar "The Water of the Honghu Lake, the Waves Beating the Waves," which was adapted into a magnificent, glorious chorus.
On the evening of July 6, 2022, the opening concert of the Central Opera House Theater opened. The old, middle-aged and young artists performed classical selections from ancient and modern Chinese and foreign operas such as "Honghu Red Guard" and selections from the original repertoire of the Central Opera House in recent years.
Over the years, the beautiful melody of "Red Guard of Honghu Lake" has rippled through the hearts of generations of Chinese children; as an excellent Chinese national opera treasure, her performances have reached more than 1,000, promoting a wave of red classics across the land of China.
