Hello everyone! I am Xu Jia Yun from Uptown Plant Material Primary School. Last week, I participated in the 9th Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival at Success Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It was my first and last time. Since I am about to enter middle school, I cannot participate in the next Harmonica Festival. As a participant, I realized that the competition for the gold, silver and bronze awards is very fierce, and a slight mistake of a little bit will be clicked off.
I was very motivated to participate in this competition, even though I knew I wasn't playing very well. When the teacher called, my mom and dad were pretty supportive and let me go.
When I got the score, I learned the high notes and then the accents. The teacher said let me play the harmony, so I took that long harmonica and played while looking at the score. Within three days, I could both play and memorize the music. When I played with everyone, I was so happy because I could play.
On July 10th, we went to Hangzhou Knife Maw Lane Primary School to practice the Spring Festival Overture! We practiced the Spring Festival Overture for four days, and we were exhausted.
After we trained for a month or two, it was August 1, and it was time to go abroad.
When we came to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, we combined work and rest, play is play, practice is practice. 'Time flies like an arrow, the sun and moon like a shuttle' the day of the competition arrived. Everyone got up early and quickly freshened up. I was very calm in my heart, not at all like how I felt before the match. I used to have my heart beat extra hard during exams, let alone a competition abroad! I should have been nervous, and this time I was surprised that it was the same as in yesteryear's competitions.
First was the Prom Polka and then the Spring Festival Overture. The Ball Polka was very relaxing, and the Spring Festival Overture was very joyful. I was so happy after playing these two pieces that I played them full time for the following days. Later, we came back with the grand prize. I realized: only through constant practice can you get unexpected rewards.
