In 1986, Song Dandan married her boyfriend of three months in a Lightning marriage. Song Dandan was 24 years old at the time, and no one knew the name of her first husband; the marriage ended a year later.
In 1987, Song Dandan and Yingda rehearsed a new play, "Arsonist," at the then-Beijing People's Art Theatre, with Yingda serving as an assistant director, similar to an internship, and Song Dandan playing a role in the play with very little acting, and the two transformed themselves from acquaintances to lovers through gradual contact, and on July 13, 1989, Yingda and Song Dandan registered their marriage in the Dongcheng District Street Office.
