Ballet Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty, Tchaikovsky's second ballet, was performed on January 15, 1890 as the world premiere at the Royal Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. In fact, exactly one year earlier, the Bolshoi Ballet had given a public performance in Moscow of Alexander? Gorsky's choreography of The Sleeping Beauty. Six years after the performance, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan also staged the work, but for more than 20 years, the production did not attract much attention in the West. It was only after the performance in London in 1921 that "Sleeping Beauty" finally won worldwide acclaim and became a world famous play. Amidst a chorus of congratulations, each fairy wishes the little princess to be the most beautiful, brave, happy, rich, and kind girl in the world.

The little princess's godmother, the Lilac Fairy, also came to the ceremony. At that moment the ceremonial officer's heart suddenly skipped a beat because he remembered that he had forgotten to invite the evil Fairy Carabosse.

The Carabosse fairy arrived. She is very angry and wants revenge. She predicts that when the princess grows up she will die from a pricked finger.

Everyone was shocked by her words. The Lilac Fairy walks over to the little princess's crib to try to diminish the old witch's prophecy - when Aurora pricks her finger, she won't die. It will just go to sleep with the whole kingdom. When a hundred years have passed, a handsome prince will find the princess and kiss her. This one will wake up the princess and the kingdom.

Dancing with the flowers in her arms, the princess is pricked in the finger and everyone runs to her in horror, but it's too late. The princess collapsed. The old woman throws off the cloak she is wearing, and people recognize her as Carabosse. The knights chased her, but she disappeared. The prophecy was fulfilled. And the whole kingdom slowly fell asleep.
