Piano Accompaniment Methods and Essentials

Singing a good song must have a good accompaniment, accompaniment is for the service of singing, can enrich and strengthen the effect of singing. The first condition is that the right hand is skillful. It is best to play blindly, play the piano eyes do not look at the hands, look at the songbook, can take care of both left and right hands. The following is my organization of piano accompaniment methods and essentials, welcome to read.

Generally at least two years of piano study.

Accompanied by the left and right hands to achieve three synchronization: that is, key, rhythm, speed three synchronization.

The left hand accompaniment is synchronized with the right hand, e.g. if the right hand melody is in the key of C, the left hand accompaniment is also in the key of C.

The left hand accompaniment is synchronized with the right hand.

The rhythm of the left hand accompaniment is synchronized with the right hand, e.g. if the right hand is in 3 beats, the left hand accompaniment is also in 3 beats.

The tempo of the left hand accompaniment is synchronized with the right hand, 80/second for the right hand and 80/second for the left hand.

Of course, at the level of improvisation, like polyphony, the left and right hands can each make a song, or the right hand can be in two beats and the left hand in three, or even the right hand can be the main melody, and the left hand can make its own melody.

I. Accompaniment method

Based on chords, centered on the right hand melody, in bars, alternating.

Usually the first or last note of a measure is used as the accompaniment base. (The following are based on the key of C, from low to high)

1. Simple method 2 5 (52), the left hand of the general songs can be accompanied in this way. Such as "I love Beijing Tiananmen".

2.1645 level method " 1 " is 135, "6" is 613, "4" is 461, "5 " is 572.

3. Major and minor method Major four-beat songs use 1353, 1535, and for three beats, 135, 35i, i35.

Minor four-beat songs use 6131, 1363. for three beats, 613, 136, i36.

Two beats against four beats.

4. Breakdown chord method The most common is based on triads, as described in the 2nd and 5th. (See Bayeux's 599)

5. Columns: Pressing two or more chords at the same time. For example, 135, 146, 15, etc.. It is used when the rhythm is strong and fast.

Polyphony (more difficult, like the minuet)

II. Accompanying rhythm

Two beats: 1515, 2525, such as "Horse Racing". Three beats: 135, 613, 246, 572, such as "Square Dance"; lyrical 135 i53, 146 i64, 257275, such as "I and my country". Rhythm is strong and fast when 1 35 35 (35 at the same time keys), 2 46 46 (46 at the same time keys), such as 〈Ice Skating Round Dance〉. Four beats can be 1535, 1353, 1464, 1646, 3575 and so on. When the tempo is fast, it can be 135, 35 35, 2 46 46 46.

3. Practice method

Practice two beats, then four beats, and finally three beats. Choose a fairly familiar song for each, and use a single approach, such as the easy method. Repeat until your left hand doesn't get messed up. Then use the "1645" step method, and finally chords. Flip from the key of C to the usual DFG and B. Once you are familiar with it, you should alternate the chords according to the melody. Can't be rushed, practicing two or three songs well, realize the feeling and then continue to learn a new song, than will play a lot of nonsense, progress faster.

Four. Prelude, interlude and coda

Can enrich the singing effect. The intro can be arranged by yourself, or you can use the last music of the song. Interlude is generally used upward 23456, 13567 or downward 17653, 54321, etc. or with the main theme of the song related melody. To see and hear more: read excellent song scores, listen to excellent singing, capture and then feel it yourself. End with a chord or use a few notes from the main melody. You can refer to existing song accompaniment scores. Find it online.

V. Chord inversions

For each chord, there are two inversions, which are also used to accompany a melody. The most commonly used are

Major triad 135, second inversion 3i5, third inversion i53 (left to right, low to high)

46i 6i4 146

572 725 257

Minor triad 613 136 361

Singing a song is rich in melody, sometimes strong and bright, sometimes lyrical and sometimes A song can have a hundred kinds of accompaniment, sound harmony, beautiful, melodious on the good.
