"Selling Soup Dumplings" is a Taiwanese folk song written by Chen Dieyi and Yao Min, outstanding Chinese lyricists and songwriters of the 20th century, and sung by Fang Jingyin for the first time, as an interlude of the movie "Wind and Rain in Peach Blossom Village".
Fang Jingyin, whose real name was Wang Xiamin, was a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and was very interested in singing at an early age. At the end of the 1940s, she came to Hong Kong with her family to settle down. At the beginning, she worked in a restaurant in the north of the country, but later, because of the heavy burden of her grandmother's parents and younger siblings, she had to turn to nightclubs to accompany the dancers. She began to learn singing from a famous teacher, and soon became a singing star in Champagne Restaurant and New Asia Restaurant due to her talent and comprehension.
