Jiapigou Town is rich in gold deposits and is known as "the first gold town in China". Gold mining in Jiapigou Gold Mine was recorded as early as the Tang and Song Dynasties, and reached its peak in the Qing Dynasty for more than 190 years, with an annual gold mining volume of 3000 kg. From 1940 to 1945, Jiapigou Gold Mine was once occupied by Japan, and Japanese imperialism seized more than 2,000 kilograms of gold here. 1949 was taken over. In 2006, it was acquired by China National Gold Group and established Jiapigou Mining Co., Ltd. At present, Jiapigou Mining Company has an annual output of 2 tons of gold.
Jiapigou Gold Mine has mined more than 80 tons of gold since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it is one of the important gold mines in China. At the same time, it has sent more than 5,000 management cadres and various technical backbones to non-ferrous enterprises and institutions nationwide, and is known as the "cradle of non-ferrous and gold industries in China". In 2005, it was named "the first gold mine in China" by China Gold Association. Jiapigou Gold Mine is also the prototype of filming location of TV series The Journey to the West.
