According to statistics, in 1941, soldiers of the 359th Brigade cleared 11,200 acres of wasteland, produced 1,200 shi of grain, and achieved complete self-sufficiency in vegetables. By 1943, more than 100,000 acres of wasteland had been opened, and 12,000 shi of grain were produced. The goal of "not requiring a grain of rice, an inch of cloth, or a penny from the government" was achieved, and all food and funds were self-sufficient.
At the end of 1944, Nanniwan’s planting area reached more than 260,000 acres, and it harvested 37,000 shi of grain. In the same year, it paid 10,000 shi of public grain to the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government.
Today, more than 60 years later, Nanniwan Town has a population of more than 10,000. The planting and breeding industry is booming, and red tourism is also attracting more and more tourists. Nanniwan Town is becoming history. A famous cultural and tourist town.
