Shang Yang (ca. 395 BC - 338 BC) was a Han Chinese, a native of the State of Wei (around Liangzhuang Town, Neihuang, Anyang City, Henan Province, today). He was a politician and thinker during the Warring States period, and a representative figure of pre-Qin Legalism. His family name was Ji, and he was a member of the Wei clan. Also known as wei yang, Gongsun yang (wei yang of the "wei" that is, in the country, shang yang of the "shang" that is, in the residence or in the official, and "the son of the vassals is said to be the Gongzi, the vassals of the Sun is said to be the Gongsun, Gongsun of the son of the king's father for the word of the clan! Shang Yang entered Qin in response to Duke Xiaogong of Qin's order to seek wisdom, and persuaded Duke Xiaogong of Qin to change the law to make it stronger. After the death of Duke Xiaogong, he was falsely accused by the Qin nobles as well as the suspicion of King Huiwen of Qin, and he died of a split car. He ruled Qin for more than twenty years, and the country was greatly ruled by the "Shang Yang", which was called "The Changing of the Laws", and made Qin dominant over the six Shandong states for a long time, but he was finally executed by King Huiwen of Qin for conspiracy against the Emperor, which ended his legendary life.
