Reduce internal friction, slow is fast.
01
Some time ago, I fell into an emotional low.
I feel like I am busy every day, but actually do nothing. I don’t want to stay in the dormitory and sleep all day watching TV dramas, but I can’t find the direction.
So I arranged my day to the fullest, including classes, homework, English learning, reading articles, basketball, dancing, and sports.
But I don’t feel fulfilled at all. Instead, I am physically and mentally exhausted. I rush to complete these things every day. When I am not finished, I am thinking about the next thing. It's like a rapidly spinning top, spinning in place without moving forward.
This superficial speed seems to be fast-paced, but inside it is like a mess with no goal or direction. This kind of inner impatience and chaos consumes one's energy and energy, and over time, one will fall into an emotional cycle of confusion and anxiety.
Later, I began to slow down my speed and not rush to do those things. Instead, when doing something, I would calm down and do it seriously without asking myself. How much you got, just ask yourself how much you got.
In the same time, although the speed is slower, I got far more things than before. If you gain something and improve every day, you will no longer be anxious. Only then did I feel fulfilled inside.

A friend of mine likes to read. She set a goal for herself to read 10 books a month, which means reading at least 2-3 books a week. This goal is still very difficult to achieve despite a full class schedule.
She did.
However, when she talked about some fragments and insights in the book, it was superficial and unclear. Even after a while, I can’t quite remember the storyline.
What is the meaning of such reading? Isn’t the value of reading itself just to gain one’s own insights from it? Reading ten books like this is not as good as reading one book slowly and deeply.
Later, she changed her goal to reading one book a month, studying it carefully and making comments and insights, but she did not force herself to complete it within this deadline. She said: "After I finished reading this book, I felt that the previous ten books were all in vain."
The purpose of goals is to motivate and supervise yourself to read. If you are completely influenced by the goals, If you keep going, finish for the sake of completion, and forget your original intention, it will be counterproductive.
If you blindly pursue speed and act to achieve your goals, your heart will be impetuous, and your original intention will deviate from the track. How can you calm down and savor books carefully? Only when you are slow on the outside and peaceful on the inside can you gain something, that is the real speed.

This is an era of rapid development, and it is also an era of impetuousness. Too many people pursue "fast but never broken". However, most of those who are successful are accumulating and moving forward slowly.
Internet celebrities such as "Wen Wan" and "Li Ge" who became popular overnight some time ago have no strength and are opportunistic. They quickly became popular. "Li Ge" was even detained for insulting the national anthem.
There are too many temptations and too strong utilitarianism, and fewer and fewer people can stick to their true intentions. Blindly pursuing speed and results, rushing for quick success and instant benefits will only result in more losses than gains.
There is a saying: Take your time, it’s faster.
After Hu Ge won the title of Golden Eagle, he did not take advantage of the momentum to develop his career, but chose to temporarily quit studying abroad.
This is not the first time he has "retired bravely."
In 2013, his career was going well and he had a lot of film appointments. In order to perform well in the drama "A Dream Like a Dream" directed by Lai Shengchuan, I gave up the high-priced film salary, turned down other jobs, and concentrated on hibernating in the drama circle for a whole year. At that time, the drama did not make any money and gained little fame. He only wanted to hone his acting skills and transform himself from an idol to a powerful one.
In 2014, he won the 2nd Danny International Stage "Best Actor in the Performing Arts Award" for "Dream Like a Dream".
The award-winning words given to him are as follows: The solid and restrained performance gave the character new life and injected new symbols. The unique personal temperament showed a new stage charm.
He is one of the few people in the entertainment industry who can calm down, learn to read and concentrate on himself. It is precisely because of this that he has become recognized as a person with high emotional intelligence in the entertainment industry and has been unanimously recognized by everyone.
In this fast-paced era, what is really fast is actually slowing down. Just like the four words Mr. Li Ka-shing said - do it quickly and quickly. Although it is slow, it goes further.

Nowadays, many writers have published many books at a young age, but few are well-known.
Some writers spend their entire lives writing only one book. Li Shizhen wrote "Compendium of Materia Medica" in his lifetime, and Cao Xueqin wrote "Dream of Red Mansions" in his lifetime. After a long period of revision and polishing, these books became masterpieces that influenced the literary world and were passed down to future generations.
The pursuit of speed and quantity often leads to mediocre and high-yield work, and only short-term benefits are obtained. For a writer, isn’t the quality of his work more important? Only works that have been carefully studied and polished can truly gain recognition and honor.
Sony founder Akio Morita said: "None of the beautiful things we have accomplished can be done quickly, because these things are too difficult and too complex."
In this fast-moving era, many people choose to press the fast-forward button on life, but impatience and anxiety have become the norm.
As the saying goes, haste makes waste. With the accumulation and precipitation of time, are you still afraid of failure?
We might as well stop and think about it, find the direction and goal, and move forward slowly. Only if you dare to press the pause button on life can you go further.
You can’t rush anything, it’s faster to take your time.
