Wu Mountain is located in the southeast of West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The mountains are rolling, reaching into the city, the left with the Qiantang River, the right overlooking the West Lake, for Hangzhou attractions. During the Spring and Autumn Period, it was the western boundary of Wu, hence its name.
Phoenix Mountain is located in the south of Hangzhou. The main peak is 178 meters above sea level, near the West Lake in the north, south of the river, shaped like a flying phoenix, so the name. The Sui and Tang dynasties established the state rule here. The Wu-Yue state set Hangzhou as the capital of the state in the fifth dynasty and built Zicheng.

Fenghuang Mountain is close to the Qiantang River and a high point of Fengshan Gate. When the Taiping Army attacked Hangzhou, it seized this place as an important base for attacking the city. The remains of the entire Phoenix Hill Palace, from the south of Campsis Bay, north to Wan Songling, east along the west bank of the south end of the Zhongnan River, west to the eastern foot of Phoenix Hill, nine miles in circumference.
