"Water Runs Down the Little River" is a Yunnan folk song.
"Water from the Little River" is a folk song composed by Yin Yigong in 1947 after collecting and organizing material from Yunnan folk songs, and is known as the "Serenade of the East". 1989, Huang Hong won the first Golden Record Award for her solo performance of the song.
The composition of the song is controversial. One theory is that "The River Runs Through It" is the work of Yin Yigong, a member of Yunnan University's Nanfeng Chorus, who organized and adapted two Yunnan folk songs, "Sheepherding Tune" and "The Moon Comes Out Bright and Wide", and was inspired by a song he heard Hua Mingbang, a member of the Nanfeng Chorus, humming on a moonlit night, and then sang it again and again and modified it to create the song. After writing the piece, Jiang Ruasi, the founder of Yunnan University's South Wind Chorus, named it "Water Runs Down the Little River".
Another theory holds that "Water Runs Down the Little River" is not a folk song collected and organized by Yin Yigong, but a song composed by Gao Liang.

Ltd. signed a co-production agreement for the movie "Water from the Little River" at the county cultural hall, deciding to shoot a movie of the same name of the song. on September 10, 2020, the premiere of the opera "Water from the Little River", a stage art creation project of the National Art Fund, which is based on the song, was held in Kunming.
