The Joy of Growing Up

<Preface>

September 16th Sunny

"Sorry to ask:Is it possible to eat quietly while attending the event. The route is quite long and lunch time is on the way. It's easy to get dizzy again if I don't eat." Sitting on the subway, I asked in the group.

"It's okay to eat generously :)" said Fan Bei-Silent.

"Puffing -" nervous heart suddenly relaxed a lot.

Nervous before each recording audio assignment at Paraphrasing Camp, I was especially hungry. Preparing to come to the offline activities of the paraphrasing camp, thinking that I may face a group of people to paraphrase, I feel even more easily hungry. So, after getting off the bus at the Suzhou station, I looked for a place to eat at the first time when I still had time to spare.

The map guidebook shared by the camp director in the group is very detailed and clear. Following the illustrations, through the winding paths of one turn, another turn, another turn, another turn, and another turn, we arrived at the venue of the event: Innovation Society, a neat two-story building. Next to it, is the playground of the Eighty-first Middle School.

Entering the building, the front door is directly across from an ancient bookstore.

It was only after the event that Nana and I learned from the text on the sign at the entrance that everyone who comes here can read all the books in the bookstore for free, and comfortable sofas, drinking water, and WIFI are provided. Inside the window, cozy quiet (here should be a photo, but yesterday I froze to forget this crop).

Just think how nice it would be to read here. Not to mention, you will meet a group of people who love to learn and read as much as you do.

At the entrance of the bookstore, I met Mr. Yu Kexian. I had not met Ms. Yu before, so when she greeted me gently from the bookstore and asked me if I was coming to participate in the paraphrasing camp activities, I thought for a moment that she was the administrator of the bookstore. Because, she is so much like the temperament of the place, serene and warm.

Under Ms. Yu's guidance, I found the cafe where the activity was held, which was on the second floor after going in from the bookstore on the first floor. Don't underestimate such a small piece of space, after a few hours of study, discussion, and at the end of the end of the day, I was not yet finished, and I sincerely look forward to the next time to come back.

Upstairs, when I realized that I was Chou-Chou, I was immediately greeted with a bear hug by a lively, cheerful, enthusiastic and charming woman.

Yes, she is Nana. A double-camp comrade of the same writing and paraphrasing camps, this was the first time the two of us had met. At first, I didn't believe that she was her, because the voice in the audio was so pleasant and warm, and the tone was so smooth and smooth and flowing, that it came from this girl who was half a head taller than me, and who was so enthusiastic and lively and cheerful.

In the next activity, in contrast to my introversion and inability to express myself, Nana was very good at regulating the atmosphere and diverting my nervousness. In the sharing session, she talked about a lot of ideas I hadn't thought of, social cases, and her own feelings, and she was great! I like her too, hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe...

I've seen the camp director before in the transcription video, so I didn't feel strange when I saw him in person. On site, he was as humble and composed as I expected.

The unexpected surprise is that this time I also saw the legendary daughter-in-law of the battalion commander. I've heard the camp director introduce them before, they are students in the math department. As soon as I think of my high math class in college, my whole brain shriveled up by half. Seeing this slim, fresh-faced girl in front of me, who was a senior in the math department, my brain...fell into a deep thought, mixed feelings ah! (

In addition to Mr. Yu, Nana, we also met with the same group of Junxin, Lu Yi, and the beginning of the story told me that the sentence "eat generously can be" Fan Bei-Mo, there are other partners, I only recognized the face, but the name did not remember. The first time I saw this was when I was a student at the University of California at Berkeley.

Then, the event officially started.

By now, the above verbose <preface> is finished, the following, for this <text>

<text>

(a)

The camp director once again gave us his self-introduction, a graduate of the science and engineering from the math major, to the electric power, writing copy, to the Now he is the head of the Fanbei Writing Camp and the Fanbei Paraphrasing Learning Deliberate Training Camp. He has explained the feasibility of "changing careers", and also explained that it is feasible to change careers because the base is good. He proved that it doesn't matter what you used to do, but what you want to do at this time. There is nothing wrong with being young - a statement that Ms. Yu opposed, saying, "People don't fear old age when they see me. People are old, and there is nothing that can not be.

Then, the battalion commander showed us the direct reason why he had to (choose to) become a heart with "great love", that is: relayed 1 battalion, 2 battalion, 3 battalion, such as a roller ball downhill like clocking data (as shown)

The same trend, the same downward curve. Each battalion started out with a team of 18/20 people, and after 5 punches, they were left with less than half of their teammates on average. The old saying, "The road to success is not crowded," is true, and not only is it not crowded, but the more you walk, the lonelier it gets.

(2)

Those things about paraphrasing and paraphrasing camps

-- One bite can't make a big fat man

The data of each camp's punch card also reflects that paraphrasing is difficult, and not as easy as one might think.

In this regard, I myself also have a deep understanding. 7 days to paraphrase a book, the first 6 days to read the secretary notes, watch the video to listen to the audio, drawing a mind map. Even if you walk on the road, but also while walking and pondering what can be combined with the main points of the actual case, while eating a meal, but also while recalling the main points of the book ... to the last 7 days, ready to record frequency, anxiety, nervousness, every time you want to abandon the armor and escape. One of my labels is that I want to run away when I'm on the verge of a battle. Sticking with it, I've finished paraphrasing 5 books today. How I got through this period, all kinds of flavors only I know.

This kind of taste, sitting on both sides of me, Nana and Junxin, both said they also know it very well.

This kind of taste, the battalion commander said he also experienced and experienced. In the past six months, he did 25 home sharing, 16 writing camp live, 8 paraphrasing camp live, 13 paraphrasing advanced camp paraphrasing, 6 into the enterprise sharing, 4 offline live event sharing, a **** 71 times, if you add their own practice when at home, to say that on average a day a share, it is not an exaggeration.

Today, in our opinion, the camp director's sharing and paraphrasing can already be done with ease and eloquence. He said that it is because of the persistence and growth along the way, and now it is scary to look back and wonder how he got there.

So, now we have such and such frustration and predicament, it is when he also experienced. The only way to solve the problem is to "insist".

"A year of paraphrased learning 50 books" is not only a slogan, but also our voluntary choice to do this goal. Reaching that goal is hard, fear not! Putting the elephant in the refrigerator requires several steps, the first step, the second step ... step by step, a book to adhere to. The goal is, better that self.

The next <dry goods> part of this activity shared by the camp director:

(c)

First, the 3 stages of paraphrasing.

This stage, and the one that most teammates are currently in.

For each book we paraphrase, e.g. Nonviolent Communication/Key Conversations/High Performance Coaching/3rd Choice, we can basically say what the key points of each book are, and from these points we see/find great gains and changes after applying them in our own lives. Through learning, we hope that not only can we apply it ourselves, but we also hope that we can influence and infect our family, friends, and coworkers around us, so that I can become better, so that we can become better.

In this regard, I have a few feelings: at present, my situation is that, when recording audio, I can only do to make clear a large framework of a book, the details will not be involved, and can not do the details of the points of enrichment. I suspect that a big reason for this is that I don't have a solid grasp of the book's main points, much less a coherent one.

I remember the paraphrasing Key Conversations assignment that teammate Sally, #45, submitted some time ago. In the audio, she spoke eloquently for an hour and a half, covering almost all of the major and minor points in the book, and at the same time, when she was talking about each of the points, what case studies were provided in the book, which she covered in her paraphrase. It was awesome! I asked her how she did it, and she said that in order to master the book, she not only watched the videos recorded by Mr. Fandang, but also read the original book in detail. So that's how it is, because there is a deeper study, so get better results. That's how learning works.

Sally's success story also gives us a learnable approach to learning. The downside, however, is that because it takes more time to read the original book, she's a little out of step with everyone else's learning. Pros and cons go hand in hand. I look forward to everyone coming together and discovering/finding a better way. (

The camp director illustrated this very well, and we all realized the difference between the two at once. And then look at their own once paraphrased, is not to paraphrase a book into a resume.

① Resume, list of dry goods, what did? What has been achieved? What is the harvest? (Please make up your own resume template)

② Self-introduction, different people, different occasions, are not the same.

For a comparison of the two, refer to the chart below.

The difference between the two more obvious characteristics, probably more felt in the field.

(iv)

Three insights into paraphrasing.

This is where we learn that we can apply some of our knowledge to a scenario in our lives, or where we know that we can apply a certain piece of knowledge to a scenario and get a better result.

In particular, the 5 books we've already paraphrased all fall into the communication category, so they can be applied almost anytime, anywhere.

At my current level, I'm still more limited to the self-important mode of paraphrasing. To paraphrase a book from a listener's point of view, you can refer to the state of Mr. FanDeng's book talk.

Before studying each book, the camp director reminded us to find the mission of the book, which was created to solve one/several what problems. Imagine your paraphrase, does it help the book fulfill the mission it came from? If not, where is it lacking? What could be done to make it more effective?

It's a road I still need to travel and learn.

(v)

What is the real purpose of the camp director's paraphrasing camp?

This topic has to start again from the primitive society. Before writing was invented, information was passed down mainly by word of mouth; with writing, but when books could not be popularized, the situation was still the same, as can be argued from the fact that Confucius lectured, and the Analects of Confucius, which has been handed down to us, describes the conversations between Confucius and his students, etc.

The real purpose of the camp director's paraphrasing camp was to help the students to understand the meaning of the word. In the days when books were popularized, reading and writing notes in class became the main way of acquiring information/knowledge. Nowadays, we are living in an era where the Internet and multimedia are increasingly used as carriers of knowledge, and our learning styles will be different with the different carriers. What kind of learning style, then, will be more adaptable to the current era? The camp director's answer is: Paraphrased Deliberate Learning Boot Camp. Whether the answer is correct or not lies in the verification of all of us together.

With the development of voice recognition technology, when from the keyboard input instead of handwriting, and from the voice input instead of keyboard input, the efficiency of a substantial increase, and itself writing and the number of paraphrase the underlying logic is the same, the need to work together, to explore a way to open up the boundaries of writing and paraphrasing.

(F)

Next, we watched the video of Mr. Fandang's book talk on "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" together on the spot.

Which seven habits? What is the mission of the book? How is the framework? What are the main points of the content? --Please watch the video to learn on your own.

(VII)

After that, we divided into two groups, each group sat in a circle and discussed the study.

This session was so stimulating, so exciting, so enjoyable (and at the end it was not enough, not enjoyable).

Language is the greatest invention of mankind, and communication is the most beautiful state of human existence.

Several people in the group, through their respective views on the session, the question and answer session, correcting the link, free to speak freely after the link down, this is an hour to complete the study of this book, but in the "proactive" on the first point of knowledge, the discussion of this happy, not happy, completely forget about the time of day. I completely forgot about the time. When I realized that it was dark outside, I realized that more than two hours of discussion had passed.

I thought that one of the major drawbacks of sharing your audio in a group and having your teammates commenting on each other was that you couldn't realize the instant feedback, the instant complementarity, and the instant correction that you get when you interact on the spot. Instant feedback is too important, especially to stimulate each other's desire to continue to dig deeper to learn. The second is instant correction, after recording the audio of a book, I have no idea, I do not know if my understanding of the book is accurate, even if there is a review of the teammates up and down the stairs (and often there is no), to my own feeling is that most of the time I do not dare to comment, because I am not sure of their own understanding of the other side of the understanding of the divergence of who's closer to the truth.

Plus the audio mutual critique, the numbers are uglier than the paraphrased ones, I think, and uglier than the writing camp mutual critique numbers as well.

Why?

I think there are two reasons: First, listening to audio requires more time, energy, and concentration, and it's hard to find time to do it in our busy lives. For example, some teammates' audio recordings lasted more than an hour, and the teammates who listened to them spent no less time than that, and sometimes they didn't hear what they heard and needed to listen to it over and over again; and second, differently from when we read a piece of writing. We have the attitude of appreciation, more relaxed, easier to execute. Listening to a book's audio transcription and reviewing someone else's when you're not sure if you've mastered the content points will put you under pressure and make you resistant to performing.

How to improve it? Everything is not afraid of difficult, difficult things can also be such as to put the elephant off the refrigerator need a few steps. Need to everyone *** with the creation, to find a good solution.

(viii)

After a hasty end to the talk, each of the two groups sends its own representative to share live transcription.

Our team sent the only male teammate in the room (not counting the camp director and other staff), Junxin.

We also analyzed and discussed the phenomenon of women being the majority of those who accept new things and learn, such as online members of book clubs/participants in offline activities/square dancers. It was interesting that we discussed not only the main points of the book, but also our own experiences and cases in society/work/family. Some of them didn't seem to be related to the book, but also at the end, the good book, the good knowledge, came together again and the utility happened. My road is consistent, this is the truth of it.

A group sent two representatives.

Each person speaks each characteristic.

The first group of comrades on the field, may also be the state of nervousness, speak when not quite able to open up, the story is relatively flat. I think it would have been better if she had added a "ramp" at the beginning.

The second speaker was Jun Xin. He was a highlight of the show, a surprise. He was one of the few teammates from the first battalion to stick around. The first battalion has progressed faster than us, and has now relayed more than a dozen books. Junxin himself on-site sharing, not only limited to the knowledge points of the book, he began by talking about his own middle school experience, from this experience to the impact on their own lives, to illustrate the importance of "habits" on the impact of people. His opening remarks were easy to relate to those of us sitting in the audience, and we were immersed in what he had to say. He did a good job with the ramp. In his narration, he combined a lot of case studies and also shared some of his own insights, and he had a unique way of creating a live atmosphere, which was wonderful and great! Have the potential of speech.

The third on the field to share is also a group of comrades. She was a bit nervous when she first came on the stage. She was a bit late in the afternoon and missed some of the content. After the book's main points of knowledge, she spoke a little, she shared with us her own participation in the FanDeng Book Club since the heart of the process, on their own, on the changes in their families, especially in the education of their son, the change is particularly great, she talked about their own friends around the current state of the feelings, and would like to use their own changes to influence the dream of more people around them. A particularly kind and meaningful dream.

Where did I begin to be struck by her? It started when she said, "I used to be a farmer, and now I run a husband-and-wife snack bar". Her sincerity, her not shying away from speaking about her privacy. Her self-revelation expanded the open quadrant with us, and our closeness and trust in her went a step further. This is one of the ways that Mr. Fandang mentioned in "Replicable Leadership", how to increase your respect and trustworthiness, expanding the public quadrant through self-revelation.

(ix)

At the end of the sharing, the camp director and Silent presented prizes to the three of them. (How wonderful life would be if teammates who weren't on stage could get them, too.)

At the end of the event, when we all took a group photo, Silent reminded us (probably me, with my already messy hairstyle made even worse by the idea of growing out my hair) to pay attention to fixing our hairstyles.

His warm hearted action, won the site of the ladies unanimous praise, and then have asked him whether there is a girlfriend ... I always think, in the marriage market, is the gold will always shine. You see, Silence is an example of this.

<end note>

After the event, Nana and I went to catch the subway together, and she enthusiastically chose to send me to the subway car (she had to sit in the opposite direction) by mistake. She's such a nice and enthusiastic girl.

During the event, she repeatedly recognized my persistence and seriousness over this period of time. Once I self-analyzed, I belong to the unstable low self-esteem type, when I am affirmed and praised, it is especially easy to have a good sense of self, if I am challenged and when I receive negative feedback, I am even more likely than the other person to have a negative and questioning of myself. It is lucky and happy to meet a partner like Nana.

Into the writing camp, into the paraphrase of the camp, met everyone, is fate, is the harvest, is the growth, is the joy.

We're going to work hard to make ourselves better.

Thank you to the camp director for every step of effort, thank you for every companion on the road to growth, and thank you for the FanDeng Book Club.
