Background of the creation of "Baikal Lake":
"Baikal Lake" was written after Li Jian went to the shores of Lake Baikal in Irkutsk. At that time, the Russian ambassador accompanied Li Jian to visit the shores of Lake Baikal. At the invitation of the Russian ambassador, Li Jian decided to use Lake Baikal as the backdrop for a song with a Russian-style orchestration, and recorded a few lines of the melody on the spot with his cell phone.
After recording it back, Li Jian felt the melody could be used and took his guitar for a test run. After finalizing the tune, Ken Lee spent another two to three months finishing the lyrics. The song has been covered by the King's Singers choir in the UK, the Sacred Melody A Cappella Choir in the US, the Opera Troupe of the China Opera and Dance Theater, and other choirs at home and abroad.
