On November 20, 1987, the "Bad" tour arrived in Sydney, Australia. The famous blind singer Stevie Wonder made a surprise appearance on stage and performed "Just Good Friends" with Michael as a special tribute to the tens of thousands of lucky fans on stage.

On March 3, 1988, Michael played a "private show" at Madison Square Garden in New York City. All proceeds went to the United Negro College Fund. Tickets for the concert were not sold at the box office, but were determined by a special betting system. During the show, Michael made headlines the following day for kissing Tatiana Thumbtzen on stage during his performance of "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Tatiana Thumbtzen made headlines for kissing Tatiana Thumbtzen during Michael's "The Way You Make Me Feel"). Numerous celebrities came out to support him, including Elizabeth Taylor and Bob Dylan, and while in Basel, Michael paid a visit to Ms. Oona Chaplin, the widow of Michael's eternal idol, Charlie Chaplin. While Oona was pregnant with their 5th child, Eugene, the Chaplin family moved to Vevay, Switzerland in 1953 (they bought the elegant Ban's country house on Lake Geneva).

On September 8, 1988, Michael received a special honor from the management of London's Wembley Grand Stadium for setting a new record there: the most performances by an entertainer at Wembley Stadium! His seven sell-out shows attracted 504,000 people. This remarkable record was subsequently entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.

During the "Bad" tour, Michael performed "I Just Can\\\\'t Stop Loving You" live with behind-the-scenes chorus girl Sheryl Crow (soon to be famous).
