Speaking of BMW 3 Series, I have tested the BMW 3 Series of F30 Series in detail before. I have driven both the domestic long axis 3 series and the standard axis 3 series, so I still have a good impression on the 3 series. Fortunately, I found two BMW 3 Series at the same time, namely the BMW 320Li with chassis code F35 and the latest BMW 325i with chassis code G20. I'm also curious, what's the difference between the new and old 3 series in design and feel?
Let's take a look at the BMW 3 Series of F35 first. I am very familiar with the driving experience of this generation of BMW 3 Series because I have tested the 3 Series of F30 Series before. For me, it's a great pity that I haven't driven the E Series 3 Series, so I really don't fully understand how profound the driving essence of the BMW 3 Series is, but I think it can be described in one word: tight.
The 3 series of F series is very compact in appearance, and there are many crease lines on the body, which will not only make the car look more sporty, but also make the car look more compact. If it is not compared with other models, this generation of 3 Series is not visually large. Even this long wheelbase version of the car is still very capable.
Of course, as a front-mounted rear-wheel drive model, the 3 series of F series is stable enough in the proportion of the car body. The short front suspension design and BMW's unique Hoffmeister curve make this 3 Series highly recognizable. This F35 320Li also has an M sports kit. Compared with the fashionable models, there are some differences in the design of the wheel hub and side skirt besides the different shapes of the front and rear bars.
Since this generation of BMW, BMW has used the latest "Angel Eye" headlights, LED light sources and highly recognizable daytime running lights, which is one of the most brilliant designs of F series BMW.
Compared with the appearance, the design of the interior is the most talked about in this generation of 3 Series. Compared with Mercedes-Benz and Audi in the same year, the F Series 3 Series is not much cheaper in interior modeling. However, compared with the F30 model, the F35 improved the shape of the M sports steering wheel, changed the design of the shift lever, and replaced it with a larger and better central control screen, which saved some face to some extent.
Of course, loyal BMW fans will not give up BMW models because of interior design. The advantage of BMW has always been to keep more physical buttons, each function button is placed in a suitable position, and the button feels solid enough. This is what BMW has always advocated, with driving as the center and all designs serving drivers.
F35 was changed from the previous N20B20 engine to the B48B20C engine. Although there is almost no change in power, the horsepower and torque are exactly the same, B48 engine has abandoned many common faults of N20B20 and made a lot of progress in stability and durability. Of course, the 8AT gearbox from ZF has always been diligent and can be called the industry benchmark.
After that, let's take a look at the chassis code G20 325i. This car is also equipped with an M sports kit, but the lines are softer and more stretched than the F35. During my filming, more than one person regarded this 3 series as 5 series. It can also be seen that this generation of 3 series is positive in appearance.
The new 3 Series is also flatter in design, and the middle net is connected with the headlights, which makes the body width lower. When you actually compare the two 3 series, you will find that the front of the new 3 series is significantly higher.
Because it is a 3-series standard axial version, it is more harmonious on the side lines. However, the new 3 Series greatly enlarges the body size. Even this standard axis version of 325i is not much shorter than 320li. However, a little comparison shows that the front of the new 3 Series is longer and the rear is more compact, so the new 3 Series is more beautiful, but there are not many disadvantages in size.
Since 20 19, BMW has made great changes in the materials and design of the interior. When I was driving the BMW X5 before, I said that the current BMW made up for the lack of interior decoration, and there was no sense of cheapness before. So is the G20 3 series this time. The interior is wrapped in exquisite leather, and the airbag cover of the steering wheel even uses double stitching technology. The details are in place to reflect the texture.
In terms of interior, the latest generation of 3 Series is finally no longer an all-black plastic interior. The central wood-like decorative board is surrounded by silver decorative strips, and at the same time, metal buttons and air conditioning outlets are added. Finally, this three-dimensional, crystal clear electronic gear lever was formed. All this adds a lot of luxury to the interior of the 3 series.
The engine is B48 engine above F35, but the code name is changed from B48B20C to B48B20D. Although the maximum horsepower is still 184, the maximum torque has been increased from 270n·m to 300n·m now. Although the data has improved, the actual driving experience is not as good as that of the old F35.
In the daily driving process, whether starting or braking, the movements of the new 3 Series are much softer than those of the old ones. Even if the electronic handbrake is used, the action of the new 3 Series will be much softer every time the electronic handbrake is automatically released. So approachable, so careful 3 series, let me suddenly have a strange feeling.
I tried to analyze the changes of this car from the perspective of BMW. In BMW's view, such a change is absolutely correct. In BMW's view, softer shifting and starting, softer and more comfortable seats, more relaxed suspension and more gentle and relaxed steering are all necessary choices. BMW must use these comfort changes to impress more consumers and make the 3 Series more approachable. From this point of view, it is reasonable to cancel the rear wheel anti-roll bar in the domestic 3 series.
Unfortunately, I'm not a BMW. As an ordinary car consumer, I seem to be looking forward to a pure BMW 3 Series. On the basis of maintaining the old 3 series sports genes, a 3 series has added luxury configuration, safety configuration and power output. But the latest generation of 3 series is not what we thought.
It seems that BMW ignores the opinions of several of us and insists on making the 3 Series a comfortable and luxurious rear-wheel drive. It is true that in the process of daily driving, we enjoy comfort 80% of the time and only enjoy 20% of the driving pleasure.
