Beautiful Life movie review 2007/06/01 12:16

--Flowers bloom

I have told myself that tragedy is not really terrible, a person or a nation in the suffering of misfortunes, despair may be the instinctive manifestation of the fragility of human nature. But this must not be a strong man style, God gives can only ever be sympathy, in front of the tragedy, who does not shed tears who is God, this is not ignorance nor cruelty, but a person or a nation of the most rare and valuable determination and optimism, I believe that such a person or such a nation must be the best. After watching "Beautiful Life" I was quiet for a long time, tears quietly slipped, flowed in the face precipitated in the bottom of the heart, feeling the suffering of the Jewish people in that era, grateful to the *** and military peace tanks to bring peace, feeling in the driving in the tragedy of the beautiful life, but also touched by the protagonist of the Kiddush's most simple love of affection ......

This is a film reflecting on the war, I believe that there is love in this world, human beings kill each other which seems to be an unforgivable error, have never understood the Nazi humanity lost in which corner, will be imprisoned in the harsh concentration camps in fact is the greatest affront to the dignity of mankind, the price of the war is huge, the war did not have an absolute victory because of immorality. Life is Beautiful" seems to want to express a beautiful wish and appeal, it does not have "Schindler's List" as tragic color, but chose to hide the Nazi's evil in an ordinary comedy game, but such a bland atmosphere of the story can shock every viewer, because it allows people to experience more profoundly to the war to the Kiddush family and even the entire Jewish nation indelible damage, this is the contrast is also the This is a contrast and also a way to see the big picture. We feel the horror of the war from the game made up by Kido, because Kido's family is innocent, and the Jewish nation is innocent. In the movie, Joshua Jr. has this line: no barbarians or spiders allowed in the bookstore . I believe that this is a deliberate arrangement of the director of a hint, this from the child's words is actually a kind of Jewish people's heart, this sentence contains too much emotion, the hatred of the Nazis, the desire for peace. In hindsight, Germany's reflection is sincere, they are making amends for the Nazi's heinous crimes in the past, but also to regain the lost dignity of mankind.

This is a film about life, in the face of death, anyone has the right to choose your state of mind, "Beautiful Life" touched me is the Kiddo heartfelt tolerance for life, which is his temperament, but also the temperament of the Italians, the film of the Kiddo, as well as his surroundings may be just a microcosm of the Kiddo's humor Kiddo's optimism is enough to prove that he has completely conquered the life, and has been the master of life. It is the pride of the Jewish people that he is the master of his life, and deservedly so. Kiddo's life is a game, at the same time Kiddo game of life, in the concentration camps in the valley of death, he did not have a trace of expression interpretation of the breath of death, not a word reveals the fear of death, but just life as a game, a game that will be rewarded, which is common people can not reach, I think, Kiddo's thinking should be the same as Trotsky, Trotsky waiting for the execution of a paragraph written by the Trotsky wrote while waiting for his execution: Life is beautiful. I suddenly received a lot of enlightenment, life may be crippled, life may be gloomy and dim, but we can choose to tolerate all the regrets with a forgiving mind, we should know that we are the master of this game of life, what we should do is to always smile.

This is another film about affection, Kidu is a successful man, success lies in his human beauty, the game he formulated is actually a game of love, in order to protect his beloved son Joshua, Kidu risked his life as an interpreter, the Nazi brutal system of beautification programmed into a suitable for his son Joshua's rules of the game, even if the rules of the game is not true, but Kidu's fatherly love Even if the rules of the game are not real, Kido's fatherly love is incredibly real. What also touched me was the radio broadcast, where Kido's few greetings sent Dora the most touching love on earth, and Dora cried, and I cried. At the end of the movie, Kido repeatedly told little Joshua can not leave the small iron box, in the Nazi soldiers captured on the way to still make comical gestures to try to let the son in the small iron box to believe that the game's authenticity, in the end of life, Kido with comical gestures as well as the most reluctant to give up the mood expressed to his son, little Joshua, the strong licking love.

Kiddo's life finally ended under the Nazi's gun, we seem reluctant to accept such an ending, because we love Kido too much, but perhaps the director of such a plot arrangement more people **** Ming, we do not hurt, because we remembered Kido, remembered his life, and we should be grateful, because the game is finally over, anti-fascist peace tanks have become the little Joshua's greatest and most precious prize.

I don't cry because the tank is exquisite, because the flowers bloom ......

In 1939, the shadow of the Second World War hangs over Italy.

Guido is a young Jewish man who looks awkward, but is kind-hearted and optimistic. He is full of hope for a better life. He and his best friend Ferruccio drive a broken-down car from the countryside to the small town of Arezzo, where he wishes to open his own bookstore and live a life of peace and quiet. Passing by a barn tower, Dora, a beautiful young girl, suddenly falls from the tower into his arms. It turns out that there is a wasp's nest on the tower, and the wasps often harass the local residents. Dora tries to do the people a favor by burning down the wasp's nest and is stung by the wasps instead. Guido immediately took a liking to her and enthusiastically treated her wounds. As a token of her appreciation, Dora gave Guido some eggs and meaningfully watched him walk away.

In a cloudy Italy, the Nazis are gaining strength, Mussolini is pursuing a hard-line policy of racial discrimination, and Guido's application to open a bookstore has been repeatedly blocked because of his Jewish heritage. His best friend Ferruccio's job is also in limbo. He was forced to work as a waiter in a restaurant, where he won the hearts of the customers with his sincere, simple, and attentive service.

One time Guido biked to work and inadvertently knocked down Dora, and the two of them encountered each other again, igniting the flame of love in Guido's heart. He wastes no time in confessing his love for Dora.

Dora is a teacher at a school. One day, a school inspector from Rome came to inspect the school, and Guido learned about it and came to Dora's school, pretending to be the inspector. The principal greets him warmly, and in order to please Dora and get her attention, Guido jumps up on the podium and shows off his talents as a comedian, making the students laugh and making the principal and the teachers stare in disbelief.

When Guido learns that Dora and her boyfriend Rudolph are going to the theater to see an opera, he buys a ticket and goes too. Sitting downstairs, Guido keeps his eyes fixed on Dora in the upstairs box. At first Dora doesn't care about Guido's persistent advances, but since Dora hates Rodolfo, she spends a lot of time with Guido. Rudolph wishfully organizes an engagement party with Dora. The party is arranged at Guido's hotel. Guido skillfully frees Dora from Rodolfo's entanglements and thus wins her heart. Dora, who has fallen out with her parents, runs away from home and marries Guido.

After the wedding, good things happened: Guido's dream bookstore opened, and they had a lovely son, Joshua. Guido often played games with his son, and the family lived happily ever after. But the good times didn't last for a few years. On Joshua's fifth birthday, Nazis seized Guido and Joshua and forcibly sent them to a Jewish concentration camp. When Dora and Joshua's grandmother returned home, only to see the house empty and disorganized, Dora understood what had happened. Although she had no Jewish blood, she insisted on going to the camp with her son, Dora was imprisoned in the women's cell, Guido did not want to let his son's young mind from then on a tragic shadow. In the inhumane camp, Guido tries to find a way to get in touch with his wife in the women's prison to tell Dora that she is safe, and to protect and take care of his young Joshua. He coaxes his son into playing a game in which those who abide by the rules of the game will eventually be able to get a real tank to take home. The innocent and curious son took Guido's words at face value, and how he wanted a tank! Joshua endured hunger, fear, loneliness and all the harsh circumstances. Guido leaves his son's childish heart unscathed with his playfulness.

When liberation came, late one night the Nazis were ready to escape, Guido hid his son in a metal cabinet, a thousand times told Joshua not to come out, he intended to take advantage of the chaos to the women's prison to beat his wife, Dora, but unfortunately he was discovered by the Nazis, when the Nazis escorted Guido past Joshua's iron cabinet, he was still optimistic, stride, imploring his son not to come out, but soon after that, a gunshot was heard! , and Guido, who had survived his ordeal, died tragically at the point of a German Nazi's gun.

As dawn broke, Joshua climbed out of the metal closet and stood in the yard, when a real tanker rumbled up to him, and a U.S. soldier came down from above and carried him to the tank.

◆Review & Behind the Scenes◆

Roberto Benigni, who wrote, directed and acted in this movie, is one of the most famous actors in Italian cinema. Roberto Bennigni, a famous comedian in the Italian film industry, is highly creative in this movie, turning an almost exhausted subject - Nazi persecution of the Jews - into gold in a brilliant way, and the effect is overwhelming. The story is set in a small Italian town before the war. A happy-go-lucky Jewish young man, Guido, meets Dora, a beautiful schoolteacher, several times when he is staying with his uncle, who owns a restaurant, and believes that she is a godsend. Five years later, when the Great War breaks out, Guido takes the boy on a train to a concentration camp. Dora, on the other hand, automatically follows Guido in order to be with her family and lies to him that she is playing a game in order to protect the child. This treatment is indicative of the cheerfulness of the Italians, and the whimsical, highly amusing way in which a seemingly impossible story is told makes it a joy to watch, and one that will be remembered for years to come. The screenplay, with its clever plotting and distinctive protagonists, is a credit to Roberto Bennigni and the child actors. Roberto Bennigni and the child actors also provide sparkling performances.

Backstory

The Second World War is a heavy, serious world tragedy, as we have seen with the poor Jews in 'Schindler's List', We have seen 'Schindler's List' (Schindler's List) of the poor Jews, 'Saving Private Ryan' (Saving Private Ryan) of the war scenes, these are mostly the pursuit of authenticity of the film so that people watched the heartbreaking, 'Life is Beautiful' is completely different from the previous war film, it is through another point of view to It confronts this period of history through a different perspective. It's a comedy, and the director believes that laughter and imagination are the best medicine to face this helplessness. The film was screened at the 51st Canne Festival last year and won the Grand Jury Prize.

Review: Laughing at the nightmare -- "Life is Beautiful"

There have been many films depicting the misery of life in the Jewish camps of the Second World War, most notably "Schindler's List". However, Italian film artists, who are optimistic and humorous by nature, have surprisingly dug out something new from the stale creative material, and "Life is Beautiful," which was recently screened in the city, finds a kind of beauty in the camps filled with blood and death.

The story is very simple: the lively and optimistic Italian youth Guido is a Jew, he came to the small town of Arezzo met his favorite girl Dora, after several coincidences and efforts, he finally married Dora, and gave birth to a lovely son Joshua. However, the good times did not last long, the Nazis captured the Guido family on Joshua's fifth birthday. In order to prevent the child's mind from being overshadowed by the inhumane concentration camps, Guido tries to make Joshua think that it is just a game. "At the end of the game, Guido dies a horrible death at the hands of the Nazis, and Joshua receives the highest prize of the game. When I watched this movie at the recent "Oscar-winning movie show", I found that many audience members were crying and y moved, just like "Mama Loves Me Again", which was a great example of fatherly love. If Benigni, the director and leading man, knew that, I'm afraid he didn't see any relief, and must have had a bitter smile on his face; as a brilliant comedian, he wanted more than that effect.

This is definitely not a tragedy, from the beginning of Guido's hilarious appearance can be seen that the director wants to create a comedy atmosphere; and Guido in the pursuit of Dora in all sorts of outrageous behavior, especially posing as an inspector from Rome in the classroom desks dancing striptease plot will be the comedy factor strengthened to farce, funny scenes and even continue to run through the concentration camps, that is, Guido finally escorted away When Guido is finally taken away to be executed, it is also a father in a clown's exaggerated appearance who appears before Joshua, who is hiding in a metal box. What is the purpose of presenting such a touching story in a comedic way? Is it to pander to the masses while deliberately undermining the thoughtfulness of the movie? On the contrary, it is the tragedy that panders. Benigni handled it in such a way in order not to pander to the public, in order to express a deeper thought, and not to let the audience indulge in shallow touching. Imagine, Guido in prison just for Joshua's mind not to be hurt and then deliberately "cheat" him? Did Guido himself not think that everything was just a temporary game of madness, and the final victory still belonged to them: the people who love life. Even in the camps, Guido always wore a smile on his face, just acting for his son, but people who don't love life from the bottom of their hearts don't have this kind of bright, joyful and powerful smile! Guido knew that nightmares were temporary, and believed that a beautiful life was forever, and that was why he carefully cared for his son's pure and young heart.

The father lost his way on the stone path of the camp with his sleeping son in his arms, and began to talk to himself when he lost his last ray of hope, the German doctor he thought would save the family

The fog gradually lifted, and before him appeared the ghastly mountain of corpses, and the chimney smoke of incinerated corpses, don't be alarmed, don't be panicked, it's a game, a game played in sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep, a game played in the sleep. It's just a game, a game played in our sleep, "When the morning sunlight falls on our faces, our mothers will wake us up and bring us steaming hot milk and desserts, but we'll just contact him in secret to teach him a secret word and send him a mysterious code word. It was ironic that life was a game for them.

Roberto Bepeni's witty interpretation of a tragic historical tragedy, the passion and hopeful beauty of his heart, all of which left a surprise in my eyes and a shock in my heart.

"Hello, Princess!" In the tree-shaded countryside, by the wooden shed where the livestock and poultry are kept; "Good morning, Princess!" In the bustling town, that square where people pass by; "Good evening, Princess!" And even at the banquet where the heroine was engaged to someone else. These many unforeseen encounters were so incredible that even the Virgin Mary couldn't help but smile from the sidelines and give a helping hand to a love that was as simple and transparent as the morning dew. Of course, there is no Virgin Mary, not to mention God, God is dead.

In the first half of the movie, we laugh at this natural and distinctive love like the music in the countryside, and it seems inevitable that the hero will win the beauty. However, in Italy at that time, for a young Jewish man with almost nothing but a child's heart and passion, this in itself was so incredible, but love has such a power to make all the incredible come true. And so, in a town drenched in the warmth of the early summer sun, the young couple, drunk with love, were united in a natural union, with their ordinary and cozy family and the fruit of their love - a young son, who looked about four or five years old and was as intelligent and lively as his father.

It's all so natural that we don't want to pay attention to the cold, somber background of the time, to an ordinary Jewish family surviving in the pre-World War II era, and Roberto Bepeni seems to be trying hard to get the viewer to overlook some of this, the sporadic footage of Jews being discriminated against, bullied, and beaten up. In this always sunny town, amidst the flowers, we seem to feel only hope and love. It wasn't until the Nazi trucks sent those two fathers and sons into the camps that we opened our eyes with great reluctance from the infinite softness of the sun, and then I asked the steel tube next to me, "Is this true?" . I suppose the second half of the movie is supposed to leave us in a state of fear and sadness.

However, I was wrong. In this place closest to death, in the deepest depths of hell, he never gives up his optimism and smile, his enthusiasm remains vivid, never fades as a result in this ridiculous war and bloody carnage, and warms his loved ones, his beloved, and everyone around him. "It's a fun game on the trip, Stubborn, and if we rack up a thousand points, we win a new clustered tank that our family will ride home in." With the threat of death approaching in stride, surrounded by four gray concentration camp walls, the father, using his best wits to protect his wife and his young son.

The vast Jewish concentration camp was nothing more than a playground for the fake, and those who came here to take part in this game were all Jews. There were thousands of children who played the game at the cost of not being able to eat dessert in order to win the final prize, a brand-new tank that they could only dream of. There are also thousands of Jewish adults who are so happy that they are paying with their lives for this incredible game, a game that has no greater thrill than this one, where the loser pays with his precious life. And of course the organizers and judges of this game, who are all noble and respected, who are so honored that the evolution from man to beast is a necessary step for them to gain honor.

The life as a game of people not only in the World War II period remnants, there are still countless people to trample on life for fun, whenever I see those abortion of young girls, those who committed suicide for the love of the love saint, those in order to get a thousand or so hundreds of robbers and take the life of those who have lost the good conscience of the sale of fake wine, fake drugs, fake flour businessmen, those indifferent and greedy doctors, those who are angry and said they want to kill all the Japanese cynicism, those who ...... those ...... Please pay attention to the soul of this great father, will you? His soul in hell put out the light of the flame, enough to penetrate the most desolate corners of the world and warm the most desolate heart.

A whole movie of laughter and tears comes to an end with the sound of a series of machine guns, and Roberto Bebeni does not let us see the father fall in a pool of blood, but he still lets us see the most tender scene with which to bury the bleakness. When he was taken away, he turned his head sideways, crossed his arms exaggeratedly, took amused strides, and just kept looking at his son, whom he would never see again, and laughing. Then, righteously, he tilted his head. He would tell his son in his dying moments that he was off to another game.

The youngest son, who has been hiding in an abandoned closet for a long, long time, trusts his father, who has always given him the strongest arms and the most relaxed smile, and the brand-new tank that he has always dreamed of, and who has finally won this game of life and death. At the end of the movie, we see this lucky boy standing on a huge tank driven by an American soldier rescuing Jews, laughing with his "princess" mother.
