The classic Danxia Mountain Scenic Spot is located in Renhua County, northeast of Shaoguan, Guangdong Province. Danxia Mountain consists of red sandstone, characterized by red cliffs, geologists named this landform "Danxia Landform" after Danxia Mountain. It is a national key scenic spot, a national nature reserve, one of the first national AAAA tourist areas, a national geopark, a national AAAA tourist area, one of the first world geoparks, and is also known as a "natural nude park". The landform consists of more than six hundred and eighty red gravel rocks with flat tops, steep bodies and slow feet, featuring red cliffs, known as Danxia Landform, which is the world's most typical development, the most complete type, the richest modeling, and the most beautiful scenery in the concentrated distribution of Danxia Landform.

May 22, 2007, the National Tourism Administration in its official website issued a notice announcement, the National Tourism Scenic Area Quality Rating Committee appointed by the local evaluation team site acceptance, the National Tourism Scenic Area Quality Rating Committee review and approval, decided to approve the Beijing Imperial Palace Museum and other 66 scenic spots for the national 5A level tourist attractions.
