How old can a baby learn to speak?

Babies usually begin to learn to speak at about one year old. At this time, most babies can make simple sounds such as yiyi and yaya, and then there will be overlapping pronunciations, such as mom, dad, grandpa and grandma. However, because each baby's physical development and surrounding environment are different, the time to start talking is not exactly the same. Some babies with slow language system development and poor surrounding language environment may not start talking until they are about two years old.

When a baby starts to speak, he will feel quite novel about many things, and it is also a process of learning and understanding the world. Therefore, during this period, parents should patiently communicate with their baby, or let the baby watch more cartoons and let him accept the stimulation of language. When the baby needs something, he should also be encouraged to use language instead.

If the baby hasn't started to speak since he was three years old, parents are advised to take the baby to the hospital for a comprehensive examination of hearing and intelligence in time to find out whether there are any factors affecting the baby's speech and carry out targeted treatment.
