◆Synopsis
The movie is based on the real-life events of the Battle of the Alamo, one of the most important battles in American history, in which Texas fought for its independence. The outnumbered defenders of the Alamo rose up against the powerful Mexican government forces with their intellectual passion and ideals of independence.
In the spring of 1836, Mexican ruler Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana (Emilio Echevarría) led thousands of his best men to besiege the Alamo, the military fortress of De Jesus. In the face of this impossible battle, fewer than 200 civilians of De Jesus organize themselves for the "future of their homeland". None of the fighters were even soldiers, and they came in a variety of positions, professions, and identities, from bankers, farmers, and lawyers, to husbands, brothers, and fathers, to vagabonds, dreamers, and legends.
The resistance is under the command of the Sacred Three: the youthful Ensign William Travis (Patrick Wilson), the hot-headed James Bowie (Jason Patric), and pioneering western legend David Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton). After 13 days of defending the fort, the isolated castle runs out of food and ammunition and is eventually destroyed. The heroic men of Deguessus sacrificed their lives for the sake of their beliefs, staging a tragic epic of valor and curiosity.
