Continental Star-Yang Liping

Yang Liping is a native of Dali, Yunnan Province. She has never been to any dance school and entered the Xishuangbanna Song and Dance Troupe from her village in 1971, and became famous for her solo dance "The Spirit of the Sparrow" which she created and performed in 1986. In 1986, she created and performed the solo dance "The Spirit of the Bird" and became famous. She is regarded as a "witch" and "god of dance".

Yang Liping is a native of the Bai ethnic group in Dali, Yunnan Province. She lived in a family with divorced parents, and her two sisters and one brother lived with her mother.
