Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is an autonomous prefecture (prefecture-level administrative region) under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province. It is located at the junction of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou provinces, and has jurisdiction over 7 counties, 1 city,15 townships (streets), with a land area of15500 square kilometers. By 20021year, the total population of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture was 29 10600, of which Tujia and Miao accounted for 80.5%.
Xiangxi Prefecture is located at the junction of the northeast side of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the southwest end of the western Hubei Mountains. Wuling Mountain runs through the whole territory obliquely from northeast to southwest, with low terrain in the southeast and high terrain in the northwest, belonging to the eastern edge of the second ladder that gradually descends from west to east in China. Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in the west, mountains in western Hubei in the north, Xuefeng Mountain as the barrier in the southeast, and Wuling Mountain winding in the territory.
Xiangxi topography
Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located in Wuling Mountain area on the east side of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The terrain is low in the southeast and high in the northwest, belonging to the eastern edge of the second ladder that gradually descends from west to east in China. The terrain inclines from northwest to southeast, and Wuling Mountain runs through the whole territory obliquely from northeast to southwest, which can be divided into the original landform of Zhongshan in the northwest, the original landform of Zhongdishan in the middle, and the landform of low mountains and hills in the middle and southeast.
The northern part is mountainous, with 130 peaks. Daling Mountain lives in the northern border of the state, and Bamian Mountain, Daqing Mountain, Baiyun Mountain, Taiyangshan Mountain, Lianhua Mountain, La 'er Mountain, Gaowangjie, Spades and Motianling rise in southwest Guizhou. The highest point is Dalingshan 1736m in Longshan County, and the lowest point is 97. 1m at Dalongxi outlet in Shangbao Township, luxi county.
