Yang Ni, deputy chief designer of China Pavilion Project, told reporters that "China Red" is not a single color. There are seven different reds in the exterior and interior of China Pavilion. The four core tubes of China Pavilion are in uniform red. The bucket arch is composed of red from top to bottom, changing from deep to shallow, forming subtle differences. The interior of the building is composed of three other reds.
The red color of China Pavilion is not painted on the exterior wall, but is made of pieces of red aluminum plates. Vertical stripes similar to fabric corduroy texture are used on aluminum plate, and concave-convex stripes produce shadows, which can change the color from east to west in another depth. The relatively flat aluminum plate also makes "China Red" show a stable and mature side.
