The original song "Shanghai Tang

The song "Shanghai Tang" was originally sung by Rita Ip.

"Shanghai Tang" is a song sung by Yip Lai-yee, with lyrics by Wong Cham, music composed and arranged by Koo Ka Fai, and included in Yip Lai-yee's album of the same name released on July 16, 1980, Shanghai Tang. The song is the theme song of the TV series Shanghai Tang starring Chow Yun-Fat and Gigi Chiu.

White said that the inspiration for the song came from his experience of diarrhea, and the lyrics "Waves run, waves flow, ten thousand miles of the river will never stop" came out of it. Huang Zhan was in a hurry when he wrote the song, and since there was no fax machine, he worked with Gu Jiahui on the phone. Gu Jiahui sang the song over the phone, and then Huang Zhan had to sing it to him once after transcribing it to see if there were any mistakes, while Huang Zhan finished the lyrics in only 20 minutes.

Song Lyrics

The tide comes and goes

From morning to night, day and night

The waves are all over the world

Turned to smoke and water

The tide goes up and the tide goes down

The tide goes down and the tide goes up and the tide goes down

The tide has gone through a lot of changes since the beginning of time

Successes and failures

People who are drunk are the ones who are drunk.

It's been a struggle and a sweat

Through the snow and wind

It's been a struggle and a sweat

It's just like the flowing water

The tide goes down, the tide goes up

It's a struggle and a sweat

It's a struggle and a sweat

The fisherman's boat sings in the evening

Singing of the uncertainty of life

It's a struggle and a sweat

Through the struggle and a sweat

It's a struggle and a sweat

Through the snow and wind

Hate and pain are hard to break and I'm used to seeing wounds

Like the flowing water that keeps on flowing

The tide goes down and the tide goes up

How many lives and deaths have been sent away

Fishing boat sings in the evening

Singing the vagaries of life

Fishing boat sings in the evening

Singing the vagaries of life

Through the snow and wind

Through the snow and the wind, I've been sweating and sweating.

It's like the water that keeps flowing

The tide goes down, the tide goes up

How many lives and deaths have been sent away

Fishing boat sings in the evening

Singing the vagaries of life

Fishing boat sings in the evening

Singing the vagaries of life

Singing the vagaries of life

The vagaries of life

The vagaries of life

Singing the vagaries of life

The vagaries of life are the most important thing to me.
