This is the story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, which has been passed down in folklore for a long time. Zhu Yingtai dressed as a man and went to study in a bookstore, where she met Liang Shanbo, a simple, kind and talented man. The two of them fell in love with each other and often practiced together, spending a carefree life in the study hall.
But the day of separation finally came. Liang Shanbo did not know at this time that Zhu Yingtai was dressed as a man. He was also saddened, but didn't think much about it. Zhu Yingtai knew that if she was separated like this, she might not be able to see Liang Shanbo again, so she proposed to be his "brother", and Liang Shanbo was very happy. When Zhu Yingtai was about to part, she asked Liang Shanbo to come and see her, and said that she would betroth her younger sister "Nine Sisters" to him. Liang Shanbo didn't know that Zhu Yingtai's sister was actually herself, but he agreed to do so.
When Yingtai returned home, she was never able to leave the house. Because, her father had betrothed her to Ma Wencai, a local official gentleman. Yingtai strongly disagreed and asked her father to withdraw from the marriage. But Ma Wencai heard that Zhu Yingtai was both beautiful and talented, and was determined to marry her.
Liang Shanbo finally arrived before Yingtai's wedding, he finally realized that Yingtai was the "Nine Sisters", and regretted it so much that the two of them told each other how they felt about each other.
This was known to Ma Wencai, who sent someone to drive Liang Shanbo away and beat him severely. Liang Shanbo was tired and anxious, and hated and worried, and finally died the day before Yingtai's wedding.
