Returned to her motherland in 1941.
In 1950, Gu Jianfen was admitted into the Brigade's Cultural and Laboratory Troupe as a piano accompanist.
In 1952, she entered the Northeast Institute of Music (now the Shenyang Conservatory of Music), where she majored in composition under the tutelage of Huo Cunhui and Shengming.
After graduating in 1955, he was assigned to the Central Song and Dance Troupe (now the China Song and Dance Troupe), where he was mainly engaged in dance music composition. Representative works: "Young Friends Come to Meet", "Early in the Morning; We Set Out on the Path", "The Love of Green Leaves for Roots", "Thoughts of You", "Mother in the Candlelight" and so on.
