Disbanded for quite some time
Rise
Created in 1998, AQUA Chorus consists of four members, female vocalist Leone Nystrom, DJ Rene Norren, and Claus Noreen, and Soren Rasted, all from Norway. The band has a strong cartoon flavor and is popular with young and old alike. The band's 1996 EP, MyohMy, was an instant hit, and the following year's Barbie Girl album brought AQUA's cartoonish dance music to Europe, America, Japan and Southeast Asia.
The band's European number one singles 〈Barbie Girl〉 and 〈Docotor Jones〉 quickly spread to dancefloors and streets around the world. Immediately, the cartoon dance music format has been copied by many new dance music groups and singers, and even the wildly popular album 〈Love Spells〉 by "Little Swallow" Zhao Wei couldn't help but take advantage of the melody of AQUA's hit single 〈Docotor Jones〉.
The most successful Danish export product since Hans Christian Andersen is AQUA. The singles from their debut album, "Barbie Girl," "Dr. Jones," "My Oh My," and "Turn Back Time," went gold in the U.K., and "Barbie Girl" in particular turned AQUA into the band's most cartoonish pop group.
The band's latest album, 2000's water park "AQUArius," reaches into outer space. Rather than entertaining the masses, they play a game that keeps onlookers entertained. The International Group of the Year at the CCTV-MTV Music Awards in the same year was AQUA (Aqua), a new Danish dance music group.
Disbanded
The Danish quartet Aqua, which became a worldwide sensation in 1997 with their dance hit "Barbie" and visited Beijing, issued a written statement to fans on their exclusive Web site last week. have now realized the reality of the lack of creative inspiration". The official announcement of the group's disbandment shocked fans and the world of music.
The statement said that the four-member group was saying goodbye to the music scene and that they did not expect to return under that name in the future. The group's next album, which was due out this fall, has fallen behind schedule and their morale is not what it used to be. This was the main reason for the group's breakup, which the members told everyone was "lack of inspiration and motivation. It is reported that all four have now decided to focus their energies on their own development.
The Aquamarine Choir, whose albums and singles "Aquarius," "Barbie," "Dr. Jones," "Super Bubbles," and "Around the World" have been a hit around the world, are by far the most successful Danish pop group to ever step onto the international stage, and have re-invented an era of dance music.
In the four years since 1997, the group has sold a record 28 million records worldwide. In their five years together, Aqua has become Denmark's most successful musical group ever, with several songs topping the charts in 50 countries.
But this summer, their performance at the annual Roskilde festival was unanimously panned by critics, many of whom argued that the group, known for its dance music, shouldn't follow the rock route and instead hold onto its somewhat distinctive gumball pop tunes.
But the band made instant newspaper headlines earlier this summer when the band's centerpiece, frontwoman Lene, and keyboardist Soren eloped to Las Vegas for a wedding. Observers of the entertainment industry believe this had nothing to do with the band's breakup. (
Solo
Lene Lane, the former frontwoman of Scandinavian band Aqua, became a hit in 1997 with the No. 1 single "Barbie Girl." Her distinctive, childlike sweetness was a perfect match for the band. Her unique sweet voice with a childish flavor is also quite tense and resilient, and has not only become the "registered trademark" of Aqua, but also led the "cartoon female voice" hot trend in the international music industry. Lene's expressive and infectious singing style cannot be ignored, and her excellent performance in the movie "Sliding Door" episode "TurnBackTime" has taken her singing career to the next level, and seems to reveal that Lene is fully capable of going solo and breaking into the world of music. and seems to reveal that Lene has all the musical potential to go solo.
The Aqua frenzy continued all the way back to 2000's electro-dance-tinged "Cartoon Heroes," and after Aqua broke up in 2001, Lene decided to walk down the aisle with fellow member Soren, only to come back under her real name, LeneNystrom, at the beginning of this year. It wasn't until earlier this year that she decided to make a solo comeback under her real name "LeneNystrom". She first co-wrote the dynamic chart-topper "No Good Advice" for the new girl group GirlsAloud, and then she hit the ground running with her latest solo album, the aptly-titled PlayWithMe. The album is also aptly titled "PlayWithMe".
