Basilica di San Marco Basilica di San Marco, built in honor of the Twelve Saints of Jesus and the collection of the spoils of war, was begun in the 9th century AD and completed in 1094. It was then destroyed by fire and restored to its present size. The highlight of the church is the Psaa'oro behind the central altar, which was built in 976 AD and has been beautifully restored and inlaid with precious stones. The Treasure House on the right side of the church houses and displays the trophies brought back from Constantinople during the Crusades of 1204. The mosaics in the baptistery on the right side of the church are also very beautiful and can be viewed from the balcony on the 2nd floor. After entering through the main door, the entrance to the staircase is on the right side where it says "Loggia dei Cavalli". Tickets and opening times: admission to the cloisters of the church: 3 euros; visit to the golden altar screen: 1.5 euros. Opening hours: summer 9:45-17:00; winter 9:30-16:00. The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Salute is a masterpiece of Venetian Baroque architecture. Rejato Bridge A bridge in the middle of the Grand Canal, dating back to the 13th century, it was at that time the only bridge over the Grand Canal, and it was a wooden hatchback bridge; it was remodeled and enlarged in the mid-15th century.
