The Girl in Alishan is adapted from the folk song Gao Shanqing in Alishan. Gao Songshan Qing wrote it on 1949, which is the theme song of the movie "The Storm of Alishan". The first singer is Chien-Hsi Chang, the heroine of the film.
The composer of the song is Zhang Che, one of the directors of Alishan Fengyun, and the lyrics are Deng Yuping and Zhou Lanping. This song was sung by Xi Lan Xiu at CCTV 1984 Spring Festival Gala and began to be widely sung in Chinese mainland.
