Nam Hung (born in 1935), formerly known as So Suk Mui, often referred to as "Sister Mei", is a native of Shunde, Guangdong Province. She was a famous Cantonese opera actress, Cantonese movie star and singer in Hong Kong in the 1950s and 1960s, and joined Lai's TV in 1970 as a TV drama actress and then hosted the "Time of Nam Hung".
Nan Hong studied in Guangzhou Deming High School, Guangzhou Accounting College and St. Rose of Lima College. 1949, she came to Hong Kong with her family and studied under the tutelage of Red Thread Lady after school, then joined a professional Cantonese opera troupe and worked her way up from a flower girl to a flower girl. 1951, Nan Hong took part in the filming of Cantonese movies, and became an actress of Guang Yi Film Company in 1956, then set up her own company Rose Film Company with Chor Yuan in 1962, and joined Lai Chi Television to make TV dramas in 1970. In 1970, she joined Lai's to shoot TV dramas. In 1997, she left Lai's (ATV) and entered semi-retirement. In recent years, she has been obsessed with calligraphy, painting and musical instruments, and has made fewer public appearances, except for occasional participation in Cantonese opera performances.
Nan Hong was one of the "Green Peony" in the "Eight Peonies", a group of seven Cantonese opera actresses, including Yu Lizhen, Phoenix, Teng Biyun, Luo Yanqing, Yu Suqiu, Wu Junli, and Lin Feng, with whom she had a close relationship.

Nanhong is the daughter of the famous singer and actress Chen Jianna (Jianna Mutual) from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, in the 1930s, and was introduced to the actress by her mother and studied under the direction of the Red Thread Woman. She was introduced by her mother and studied opera under the master of Red Thread Woman, who changed her stage name to "Nan Hong"; in addition, she studied Cantonese opera with Wang Yue Sheng, and in the 1950s she began to make movies, and in the 1960s she was already a movie star, and during the same period, she had formed a group with Fei Jia to perform with the "Qing Hong Jia Theater Troupe". During the same period, she and Yu Jia formed the "Qing Hong Jia Theater Troupe". She made only 10 or so opera movies, the more famous ones being "Twelve Hairpins on Twelve Bars" in 1964 and "The Story of the Red Plum in the Second Life" in 1968, which she co-produced with Chen Baozhu, while the rest of the 100-odd movies were mostly fashion films. In the mid-1970s, she joined a TV station to perform in dramas.
Nan Hong co-founded "Rose Film Company" with Chu Yuan in 1962, which produced "The Black Rose" and "The Black Rose and the Black Rose", which have become classics, and were later remade in the late 1990s. Nan Hong also sang the interludes for the movie such as the female killer's interlude "Cardamom Spring Heart" and "Love Flowers Bloom", "On the Wall - Fiber Love", "Half Covered Pipa Making Ying Throat", "The Love of an Obsessed Woman" of "Mandy, My Dear Mandy", "Returning to the Heart of an Arrow" of "The Lighthouse Walking Corpse", "The Moon and the Wind without Boundaries" of "The Idyllic Songs", "The Love Seed", "The Mistakenly Planting of Love Flower", "The Azalea" of "The Love of a Young Wife", and "The False Wife". Red" from "Fake Wife", "Practice Dance Song" from "Prodigal Son's Infatuation", "Thinking of the Lang in Four Seasons" and so on.
