Yeh Chia-hsiu is a famous singer and songwriter of Taiwanese campus folk songs. His lyrics and songs, such as "Going Home with the Sunset," "Walking Barefoot on the Ridges of the Fields," "Country Roads," and "Goodbye to Hualien," are all based on the idyllic Hualien countryside where Yeh Chia-hsiu grew up, and his compositions and melodies are oriented toward country folk music, which is considered to be a leader of the idyllic school of Taiwanese campus music.
The most important lyrical works are mostly related to Yeh's love process during his college years, such as Monologue of a Wanderer, Autumn in the Heart, First Dance, and Youth without Complaint.
Yeh Chia Hsiu also has a piece called "Grandma's Penghu Bay", which was written by Pan Anbang, who narrated the story between Pan Anbang and his grandmother, and then adapted it into a song.
