At 10:00 am on March 23rd, our Sunflower class carried out the theme activity "I have an agreement with the grassland".
"The sky is pale, the field is vast, the wind blows the grass to see the cattle and sheep ......" Accompanied by the children's familiar folk song "Cile Song" of the Northern Dynasties, we opened the theme of "I have a promise with the grassland" in the image of the vast grassland.
In order to implement the diagnostic teaching strategy, we released the core task on the day of the theme opening: to be a little guide to the grassland - to make a travel guide to a certain grassland and publicize it. The specific implementation of the core task includes what aspects of the grassland are introduced, what preparations need to be made before going there, how to plan the travel time, and how to publicize the travel guide in order to attract more tourists, etc. This process also corresponds to the theme diagnosis. The core task is complex and comprehensive, and has a certain degree of difficulty and challenge, but through the learning of this topic students will feel that "I can do it", "I can do it", and the core task is based on the real problem situation and realism, and at the same time, the grassland is one of the most popular and popular places for children to visit. Meanwhile, the grassland is a place that children especially like and long for, so the core task can also stimulate students' interest. The most important thing is that the core task can carry grade-level domain goals, topic goals, and subject goals.
Driven by the core task, we divided this theme into three units corresponding to three sub-tasks, i.e. getting to know the grassland, learning about grassland culture, and making travel tips. In the first unit, we got to know the grassland from various perspectives, such as the climate and animal species in the grassland, and gained a preliminary understanding of the grassland. In Unit 2, we learned about the culture on the grassland from the aspects of food, songs and dances, literary works, etc., and gained a deeper understanding of the grassland. In Unit 3, we make a prairie travel guide and complete the core tasks through the study of the Crooked Rabbit's Thinking Guide series of picture books.
For the three-week topic, I led the children to learn the picture book "Mayra's Eagle", Mayra and the golden eagle together to guard the flock, grow up together, and fly to the wide world together, the children feel the most beautiful customs of the Kazakh people on the grasslands of Nalatty, and y fell in love with the vast prairie; we also studied the picture book "Inner Mongolia is saying", the children learned that Inner Mongolia not only has the "the wind blows the grass low to see the cattle and sheep" beautiful scenery, but also "flat sand vast yellow into the sky" of the Gobi and "battle with the wild sand with the moon drunk" of the poplar, but also in this vast land of Inner Mongolia. In addition, in this vast land of Inner Mongolia, the beautiful natural scenery and enduring stories together, and thus a more comprehensive understanding of the grasslands; and through the study of the picture book "Genghis Khan", the children appreciate the simplicity of the ancient Mongolian people's life style at the same time, but also from the experience of how to change the situation through hard work and efforts to achieve self-growth, which deepens the sense of identification with the prairie culture; in addition, we also studied the "crooked rabbit - where to go on vacation," "the crooked rabbit's travel routes" and "the crooked rabbit's travel route". Crooked Rabbit's Travel Route" and other picture books, mainly learning the double bubble chart and flow chart mind map form, which lays the foundation for making a clear and concise grassland travel strategy. In addition, the theme of the integration of the "remainder of the division" and other mathematical knowledge, children learn to use the remainder of the division of the calculation method to solve the real-life problems encountered in the production of grassland travel guide.
In addition, in this theme, Ms. Jiajia led the children to learn the picture book "This is the African savanna", to understand the landscape and climate of the Chinese grasslands and the African savanna; through the "On the Grassland" to understand the grassland animals; the picture book "Little Tua Moving" is the first unit of the main picture book, through the life of the Mongolian family of Little Tua, the children to understand the nomadic life of the change. Not only that, children learn about the culture of the grassland through "Suhe's White Horse", which is one of the finest picture books. It tells the story of the confrontation between the lower class people and the power politics from the perspective of the horse-head qin in ancient times, and also transmits the value of equality and freedom within the scope of children's understanding; in the language subject, children learn about the culture of the grassland through "The Grass on the Plain". The grass in the field withers and grows every year. In the language subject, children understand the changes among living things and the parting of friends through "The grass grows and warblers fly in February, the willows on the embankment are intoxicated by the spring smoke, children return early from school and are busy releasing paper kites in the east wind", and they feel the scene of children's laughter thousands of years ago through "The jasper is made up into a jade, the grass is made up into a willow, the grass is made up into a kite, the grass is made up into a jewel. "Jasper is made into a tall tree, and ten thousand threads are draped with green silk tapestries. I don't know who cuts out the fine leaves, and the February spring breeze is like scissors" to realize the beauty of the environment in spring when the willow piles up the smoke and the curtain is not heavy.
Our theme-based curriculum revolves around getting to know the grasslands, learning about grassland culture, and creating a travel guide to the grasslands, and our core tasks were carried out in an orderly fashion. Once the theme was over, the children worked individually to create travel guides to different grasslands and to prepare for the awareness campaign that was to follow. The children first grouped themselves and chose their favorite grasslands. Then they divided up the work, some children were in charge of researching information, some were in charge of making mind maps, some were in charge of making invitations, and some even learned grassland songs and dances and practiced them over and over again, so as to show the infinite charms of the grasslands to everyone, and to make everyone fall in love with the grasslands and follow the guide to visit the grasslands. Under the children's unremitting efforts and cooperation, we prepared gorgeous grassland costumes, sumptuous grassland food, beautiful grassland songs and dances, and of course, the wonderful grassland travel guide! With everything ready, the children rushed to each classroom with great excitement to present their beautifully crafted invitations. We waited quietly, counting down the days to the event.

The combination of beautiful singing and dancing attracted the attention of teachers and students. The children performed very well, thanks to their careful preparation and the full support of the parents of the Sunflower class. Especially when School Wang led many teachers from outside schools to watch, they highly praised the children's theme activities.
Every event needs to be well planned and organized, and all the details need to be in place beforehand. We are very grateful for the children's preparation and the parents' support, as well as the teachers' enthusiastic participation.
In this theme, each child has established a pact with the grassland, which is a vast grassland in the distance, and a beautiful life in the future. In the days to come, no matter how to deal with life, learning or work, we have to do our best every time, may we work together with the children to fulfill that beautiful agreement in our hearts.
