Appreciation of Yueju Opera's Famous Drama "Nine Catty Girl"

Traditional Drama. Based on the original independent and connected traditional dramas "The Bucket Tale" and "The Cursing Book" (also the name of the original traditional drama).

Writing about the cleverness and ability of the daughter of the barrel maker Zhang Tianbao, Jiu Jin was married by the rich man Shi Er as the third daughter-in-law of the family. Jiu jin was envied by her sisters-in-law and returned to her mother's house. Later, a cat owned by the third wife was killed in the Shi family's house, and she took the opportunity to extort money from Shi Er, who invited Jiujin back and subdued the shrewish third wife. The play is based on Shaoxing's folktales, which were produced during the period of small song classes and originated from the bibliographies of floor singing books. The lines are characterized by folk oral literature, and all the words spoken and sung are in Shengxian dialect, which is full of local flavor. The dialogues and metaphors of the characters make use of harmonies and hermetic phrases many times, which are very interesting and entertaining. Jiu Jin and Third Auntie? They curse each other. On June 22, 1917, the male class Meiduo Ahshun class performed in Shanghai's Mirror Flower Theatre, and in October 1953, the East China Experimental Troupe of Yueju Opera rehearsed the play, with Lv Ruiying as the Jiujin girl, Zhu Fangsen as Zhang Huabu, Zhang Guifeng as Shi Er, and Zhu Juxiang as the Third Auntie. The script was compiled by Zhang Guifeng, Lu Ruiying, and Wu Xiaolou based on "The Story of the Bucket" and "The Book of Cursing" by the veteran male artists Zhu Fangsen, Liu Jinyu, and Jin Xitang, and was later rehearsed many times with some changes in the storyline and characterization. For example, instead of marrying Jiu Jin to the Shi family, the killing of a cat in the Shi family was changed to Zhang Hoop Bucket accidentally injuring a cat while working in the Shi family, leading to Jiu Jin's `conflict with her third uncle's wife. After the initial rehearsal of the East China Vietnamese Opera Troupe, it was first performed in the auditorium of the former East China Military and Political Committee at No. 33 West Yan'an Road to Premier Zhou Enlai for a debriefing.

The above performance is called `The Bucket Tale'. 1956, Zhejiang Hu Ru Hui, Fang Hai Ru adapted into `Nine Catty Girl', which was first staged by Zhejiang Yueju Opera Troupe's second team, with Wang Lei as the Nine Catty Girl, Wu Zhaocian as Zhang Bucket, and Fang Hai Ru as Shi Er. Later, it was rehearsed by the Yueju Opera Class of Zhejiang Art School, with Zhang Lanzhu as the Nine Catty Girl. The script was published by Zhejiang People's Publishing House and Donghai Literature and Art Publishing House. 1960, the Shanghai Yueju Theater School organized and performed the first half of the play, from Shi Er's proposal to Jiu Jin's refusal of marriage. The script of the play was included in the 1959 publication "Chinese Local Opera Collection? Shanghai Volume. In November 1936, Gao Ting Records produced a record of Zhang Xuefang and Zhang Ruifeng singing "Cursing Ben".

In 1986, Fang Hairu and Liang Yongzhang adapted the play into an opera-drama series, which was filmed by the TV Department of Zhejiang Yueju Theater and Zhejiang TV Station, directed by Zhang Ronghua and Jiang Tao. Music by Zhu Xunzheng. Zhang Rui Chun as Jiu Jin Girl (dubbed by Shi Liping), Zhang Bow as Shi Baby (dubbed by Chen Jian Xin), Liang Yong Zhang as Shi Er (dubbed by Li Weiyong), and Ding Shasheng as Zhang Hoop Bucket.
