Have had a relationship with LA this year, visiting twice in just five months. The first time, I went to Universal Studios with some uncles on a business trip. To be honest, I didn't like Universal Studios that much. On those days, I waited in line for hours in Orlando and went to the Harry Potter School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for a few minutes to experience it. When I experienced it again in January, I still didn't find it that amazing. This time, I finally got what I wanted. Even though I was here for a meeting, I wasn't exempt like all the out-of-towners. I went to the Walk of Fame and saw the Hollywood sign in the distance. The U.S. college tour continued, including visits to the campuses of UCLA and USC, Santa Monica Beach, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and finally back to the Lakers' home court, the Staples Center. Emma, I'm full.
Really blue. Los Angeles is in the southern part of California, where there is desert. The good thing is that there has been a lot of rain this year, so the weather is pleasant and the blue bluebonnet flowers are beautiful. This unusual tree that blooms all over the streets attracted my full attention and made me forget the simplicity of the Walk of Fame.
Los Angeles means City of Angels, but the planning of this satellite city has been criticized for security problems, traffic jams, and freeway complexities, but I don't think that these can still overshadow its beauty. And when I say beauty, I mean it. When I see blackheads moving through Santa Monica, I really feel at home. Though surrounded by people of all colors and sizes, and most importantly, Mexican friends selling fruit with bamboo sticks stuck in them! It felt like I was back at a spot again.
Both UCLA and USC have beautiful campuses and it felt good to walk around the university. Both schools have architectural styles from Italy, UCLA is Lombardy Renaissance style and USC is Romanesque.
UCLA's campus had so many fellow countrymen, and there were Chinese speakers basically everywhere. Walking around, I finally got the legendary number one cafeteria in America at UCLA. Like the guide says, it's a foodie's paradise and a fat person's hell. Kids with brains can get at least $11 worth of meal tickets for $2 and definitely get their fare back. I was amazed at the size of the UCLA playground and the abundance of facilities. No wonder there are so many Olympic champions here.
Because today is the anniversary of World War I, all the places I wanted to go, like the Getty Center, are closed. Luckily the Museum of Modern Art was free today and there were so many people who felt like returning to their homeland. I am fascinated by Tony Smith's creations. He was interested in cells in his early years and created a series of sculptures at a later stage by looking at them. Then there's the Bauhaus conceptual work, which is certainly avant-garde now.

America Trip 3 - Have you ever flown in the US?
Catching a plane in the US for the first time can be described as scary.
First of all, we underestimated the amount of time we needed to set aside. We had done many domestic and international flights before. Overconfidence in our experience, coupled with taking the word of some online friends, led us to arrive at the airport less than an hour before our scheduled departure.
The older man warned us to stay two hours even for US domestic flights because sometimes security is slow and traffic outside the airport (especially in Los Angeles) is unpredictable.
Fortunately, however, the flight was delayed two hours. We found the delay information in the car and danced around happily.
The older man was also relieved for us, "Now I don't have to drive so fast! I've been trying to save time for you girls."
No wonder he'd been looking at his phone earlier and hadn't followed the route suggested by YouTuber. Turns out he was constantly checking the traffic ahead and choosing the fastest and smoothest road.
Relax, Uncle, and we talk about food, work, his beautiful wife and feisty son, weekend pop stars, the heat of Chicago and the cold of Colorado.
It turns out that American men can be very family-oriented, converting their garage into a band rehearsal space and taking their wives to a Celine Dion concert in Las Vegas alone, or they can be workaholics, buying their hard-working children tickets to the concert of their dreams.
The trip was very enjoyable and we got a deep insight into the free and serious attitude of a local.
It's My Brain Fix Garage Band
We flew Delta and were a little confused as soon as we got into the airport, all we saw was rows and rows of machines and long lines.
Thinking fast and furious, a couple of friends rushed into the line right then and there, and when we were almost at the end of the line we were told that everyone had to check their own tickets. It took them a while to get into the line and check in.
I left the line in a hurry. Even though I wasn't familiar with the machines here, I followed the instructions and got my boarding pass. It took less than five minutes.
American Airlines pays on the spot for all bags at $25 each (no more than 50 pounds, about 23 kilograms). But some of my friends can't swipe their UnionPay cards and can only pay in cash.
After printing the sheet, go to the bag drop counter and throw in a checked bag, finally completing another process.
Both curious and uneasy, we joined the security team.
Long lines - long lines
The people in front of us all seemed nervous, going through security one by one for fear of falling through, and I was no exception.
So I followed the lead of the guy in front of me and pretended to be skillful as I took a couple of framed items. But I was still stunned to see her take off her shoes. It wasn't until the officer across the street signaled that I couldn't wear them that I hurriedly took them off and put them in the frame.
After entering a cylindrical security machine, you hold your hands over your head. Once everything is in order, the exit glass doors will open.
Holding your head for security
The whole process seemed tedious, mainly because I had more on my plate.
Most things in the US are spontaneous. Almost everyone knows what to do. The "assembly line" is actually very efficient and doesn't take as long as one might think.
By the time we all got through security, it was just after 12 noon: the scheduled flight time. Because of the delay, the plane was showing a 2 p.m. departure. This was a surprise.
Suddenly, we had plenty of time, and we wandered around the airport to see if there were any duty-free cosmetic stores (there weren't). I don't know if there were too few domestic departures from LA or if it was too crowded. It was fun to see lots of people boarding with their puppies, though.
When I boarded, the guy in the front row saw me struggling to put my suitcase down and just put it on for me.
I also realized that here, whether it's a stranger you meet on the street or someone sitting next to the plane, if you meet the other person, they will definitely look you in the eye, smile and say hello. After that, the homeless people we met in San Francisco even told us good morning and to take care.
After getting on the plane, the captain made several consecutive announcements about traffic control and that the planes were lined up for takeoff.
After catching the plane, I fell asleep on the plane and woke up feeling like a fish on the shore - dying.
That's when the flight attendant came over to collect the empty cups, and I was too embarrassed to ask for a glass of water.
The shoreline outside the window
It was almost seven o'clock, and it was still light, but the plane had already started to land. I watched the waters of the Bay Area get closer and closer to me as I finally reached my destination.
