Ten Sending the Red Army is a revolutionary song adapted from the Jiangxi folk song "Song of Sending the Red Army".
In 1960, Liu Yalou, then commander of the Air Force, enjoyed the song-and-dance epic "Three Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" during a visit to North Korea. 3,000 North Korean warriors gave a magnificent performance that caught his eye. The next year, he gave the Air Force Civilian Troupe General Troupe Deputy Director Zhang Shuanghu set the task, required within three months to create a revolutionary history song evening, and must be collected revolutionary history songs, prohibit newly created songs. After receiving the task, the Air Ministry Civilian Labor Troupe immediately took action. Zhang Shixie, Zhu Zhengben, Yao Xuecheng, and Chen Jie, who were then in the creative office of the troupe, were assigned to be responsible for the creation of text, music, and dance. In order to collect enough songs from the Red Army period, Liu Yalou also personally mobilized old Red Army soldiers and cadres to come to the troupe to offer their songs.
Despite the extensive collection of material, when recreating the theme of the Red Army's farewell to the Soviet Union and the start of the Long March, no suitable song could be found to express the reluctance of the people in the base area to send off the Red Army. So, several creators decided to put aside the ban and venture into creative work. As several creators had been to Jiangxi to collect wind. Therefore, Zhang Shixie quickly wrote the lyrics based on the materials obtained from interviews with members of the Red Guard, representatives of the Workers' and Peasants' Associations, and veterans of the Red Army in the base area. As soon as he finished writing the lyrics, Zhang Shixie went straight to Zhu Zhengben's room and asked him to compose the music. As soon as Zhu Zhengben saw the lyrics, he was touched, and the melody of the folk song "The Long Song", which he got from Jiangxi Province, flashed in his mind. Then, in less than an hour, he finished composing the song. Due to too much dedication, in the music to "thousands of troops and horses stand on the river, 100,000 people tearful", he also once fell in tears?
The lyrics of the song "Ten Reds" are based on a narrative, which expresses the deep feelings of the people in the revolutionary base area for the Red Army and their strong hope for the success of the revolution. The lyrics adopt the technique of blending scenes and expressing emotions through scenery, which makes people feel sincere and hard to part with each other. The melody of the song has one main body (A) and two variants (B and C), thus constituting the structural form of ABABACA. There is an intrinsic connection between all the sections, and by adopting the cyclorama technique , the whole song is formed into a unified style.
At the same time, each section of the melody incorporates unique musical elements, creating a sharp contrast between the sections. In addition, the melodic movement of each section is often in the form of short phrases, which are followed by pauses. Although there are short interludes between the phrases, the song as a whole still gives a sense of choking, and is emotionally depressing and heavy. The whole song, its music emotion is to stay in love, hope, blessing, deep feelings and other emotions into one.
