Floor exercise is one of the competitive gymnastics events. Is floor exercise "free"?

Floor exercise has a long history. According to some data, this form of physical exercise came from ancient Egypt. If this legend is reliable, that is to say, it has a history of more than 4 thousand years, and it can really be said to be the "big brother" in gymnastics. Modern floor exercise is developed from warm-up activities. At first, the movements were relatively simple, but later the movements became more and more complicated and became an independent gymnastics event. Before the age of forty, there were not many somersaults in this project, and it was not difficult. Athletes use various gymnastics movements to perform a certain theme and show the bodybuilding of the human body. However, since the 1950s, the composition of technical movements has increased, and the development of skills has become more difficult.

Is floor exercise the freedom for athletes to do whatever they want? No, although it is called "freedom", it is relatively bound by certain rules.

The first is the constraint of the site. The floor exercise venue is12m square carpet or special floor (made of several layers of plywood sandwiched with hard foam plastic and covered with thin foam plastic and artificial leather). All athletes' movements must be completed on the field. If the activity is out of bounds, a certain score will be deducted. During the competition, the referee group has a special line of sight to observe the athlete's action range. In case of crossing the line, the man will be directly informed by the sight referee and deducted from the total score; For women, the visually impaired referee will raise the flag to warn the athletes and notify the referee. An athlete's feet, hands or other body parts are out of bounds only when they are pressed out of line to form support. When his body is out of bounds in the air (for example, one leg is out of bounds in the air), no points will be deducted. Athletes should make rational use of this 12 square meter field. After a set of movements, some corners will be deducted before they arrive.

The second is the time limit. The time of a set of movements for male athletes is 50-70 seconds; The time for a female athlete to do a set of movements is one minute to one and a half minutes. If the action is insufficient or exceeds the time requirement, a certain score will be deducted.

The third is the arrangement requirements of the action. A set of movements of male athletes must consist of unarmed gymnastics, balance, stillness, powerful movements, jumping, flexion and extension, and various handspring and somersault movements. If one of the above behaviors is missing, a certain score will be deducted from the organizational arrangement. Female athletes' floor exercise also includes a lot of dance movements.

The fourth is the requirement for music. Female athletes' floor exercise must be accompanied by piano. It is not allowed to accompany with other musical instruments. If there is irregular accompaniment, one point will be deducted. 0.5 points will be deducted for improper use of music or music mismatch during the action; If the accompaniment is played incorrectly or the movement is out of rhythm, a certain score will be deducted.
