Three Monks is an animated short film adapted from a folk proverb in China and produced by Shanghai Animation Film Studio 198 1. This short film is directed by Jingda Xu and Mark Xuan, and written by Bao Lei.
Through the story that three monks have no water to eat, the temple is on fire, and three monks, Qi Xin, work together to put out the fire, until the three of them hang water together, the film not only criticizes the backward thought of "three monks have no water to eat" in society, but also advocates the new social fashion of "unite as one, Mount Tai moves", which is closely linked with real life.
Once upon a time, there was a small temple on a mountain. One day, a young monk came to the temple. Every day, I carry water, recite scriptures, knock on wooden fish, add water to the water bottle on the bodhisattva's desk, and don't let mice steal things at night, leading a stable and comfortable life.
Soon, another tall monk came to the temple. He drank half a can of water as soon as he came. The young monk asked him to fetch water, and the monk did so at first, but later he saw the young monk at leisure in the temple and thought it was too bad to fetch water alone, so he asked the young monk to fetch water together.
Two people can only carry one bucket, and the bucket must be placed in the center of the burden, so that two people can feel at ease. So there is still water to drink. And the relationship between the two has become rigid. Later, another fat monk came. He also wants to drink water, but there is no water in the tank.
The young monk and the tall monk told him to pick his own. The fat monk picked a handful of water and drank it all by himself. Since then, no one has carried water, so the three monks have no water to drink. Everyone read their own scriptures and knocked on their wooden fish. Finally, they simply grabbed the water from the water bottle in front of the Bodhisattva and drank it all at once. The flowers withered when no one added water.
Rats come out to steal things at night, and no one cares. As a result, rats ran wild, knocked over candlesticks and ignited a fire. Three monks struggled to put out the fire together. The fire was put out and they woke up. From then on, three monks and Qi Xin worked together, and there was naturally more water.
