Gu Jianfen is a famous contemporary Chinese female composer and an outstanding representative of returned overseas Chinese. Originally from Weihai City, Shandong Province, she was born in Osaka, Japan in 1935, returned to China in 1941, and settled in Dalian, China. 1952, she entered the Northeast Institute of Music (now the Shenyang Conservatory of Music), majoring in composition, and graduated from the Northeast Institute of Music (now the Shenyang Conservatory of Music) in 1955, where she was assigned to the former Central Song and Dance Troupe to engage in music composition. He is now a retired artist of China Oriental Performing Arts Group.
