Tears from the Iron Window is a popular 1988 song originally sung by Zhai Huimin, with the female part sung by Zhang Xiuyan and the monologue part by Chi Chi Qiang, and is included in the music album Tears of Regret, released in 1987.

Born in 1958, Chi Chi was born in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, to a family of citizens. When he graduated from junior high school, Changchun Film Studio recruited actors, and he was able to sing and dance well. After he was recommended by his teacher to enroll, he passed through the layers of screening and became a participant in the training course of Changchun Film Studio.
In 1974, at the age of 16, Chi took part in the shooting of his first movie, "Venture", which was extremely well received, and then quickly became popular for his starring roles in "Small Characters" and "Sunset Street".
In 1979, at the age of 21, he was honored as one of the second "National Outstanding Young Actors" along with 11 other actors, including Liu Xiaoqing, Tang Guoqiang, Chen Chong and Pan Hong.
In October 1983, Chi was sentenced to four years in prison for hooliganism, causing a national uproar.
In October 1985, Chi was released early from prison after a two-year sentence reduction for outstanding rehabilitation, and returned to Changsha Film Studio.
August 1988 to 1990, Chi Zhiqiang in the filming of the film in succession to personal experience as the subject of the cover, recording two personal tape album "tears of remorse", "embrace tomorrow", and by the famous singer Zhai Huimin lead singer. Circulation amounted to as many as 10 million disks. 1988 Chi Zhiqiang and Hangzhou girl Chi Daiying married, and then once withdrew from the acting circle in Harbin and Qinhuangdao to open a hotel business.
After 2003, Chi took part in a number of TV dramas, the most recent of which were broadcast on CCTV, including Dignity and The Urban Stranger.
