The school newspaper "Nanyuan Feng" gives students the opportunity to burst out the spark of inspiration and feel the joy of turning their works into type; the school radio station and self-operated TV station allow students to show off their talents. The school attaches great importance to learning the advanced experience of outstanding schools. It has visited Handan No. 1 Middle School and Hengshui Middle School, and has also visited key junior high schools such as Handan No. 25 Middle School and No. 11 Middle School to learn advanced experience.
A large number of student work has been published in newspapers and magazines at all levels; more than 1,000 people have won awards in various competitions at all levels, accounting for about 1/3 of the county.
Students participated in the county's youth science model competition and achieved outstanding results: they won all 6 first prizes in the middle school group of the ship model competition; won 5 of the 8 second prizes; and occupied 10 third prizes. 9 seats won the first prize; 4 people from the primary school won the first prize in the county.
The students participated in the county track and field games and won the first place in the overall team score; they participated in the county teacher-student art festival and won the first prize in the team for live painting, artistic performances, singing competitions, calligraphy and painting exhibitions and other projects.
In 2010, the school's self-composed dance "Blessings for Good Luck" performed at the 6th National Dance held jointly by the Ministry of Education's Related Work Committee, China Education Society, China Education News, CCTV, China Art News and other departments and units. The Children's Art Exhibition and "Charming Campus" Children's Day Party won the gold medal, and Chengnan Middle School was named "National Art Education Featured Unit". In 2012, the dance "Soul Carved in Stone" participated in the 2012 jointly organized by Beijing Kaku Children's Channel and Tencent.
