Native of Shenyang, Liaoning. Graduated from Hegang Senior Vocational School, he grew up under the inculcation of folk arts such as Peking Opera, Dahui Luzi, Tangshan Donkey Shadow, Errenwang, Shanxian and Dajin.
Joined the Communist Party of China in 1972. He has been a soloist and director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Song and Dance Troupe, a member of the fourth session of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, a member of the third session of the China Federation of Music Associations, and a vice-chairman of the Heilongjiang branch. He was a deputy to the Third and Fourth National People's Congress. Known for singing northeastern folk songs, Guo Song passed away at the age of 85 on May 19, 2016 at around 7:00 pm.
