Finalist Stage
The 12 teams from the Finalist Stage will be divided into 3 Reserve Draw Groups:
●Reserve Group A: RNG, DRX, FNC, and BYG
●Reserve Group B: FNC, EG, SGB, and DFM
●Reserve Group C: CHF, IW, ISG, and LOUD
These teams will be divided into 3 Reserve Draw Groups. LOUD
We drew lots on September 12 to divide these teams into 2 groups for the Finalists. Each Finalist group will consist of 2 teams from each of the Reserve Groups A, B, and C. The teams will not be divided into groups from the same region. Teams from the same division will not be placed in the same group.
Group Stage
The 12 teams from the Group Stage will be divided into 3 Reserve Draw Groups:
●Reserve Group A: JDG, GEN, RGE, and C9
●Reserve Group B: CFO, T1, TOP, and G2
●Reserve Group C: 100T, SGB, DK, and EDG
These teams will be drawn into four groups for the group stage. Each group will contain one team each from Reserve Groups A, B, and C. As with the Finalist Groups, any team in the Reserve Groups will have to play in the Reserve Group. As with the qualifying groups, no team will be allowed to play in the same group as another team in the same division. If the draw conflicts with this rule, or would cause this to happen later, the drawn team will be moved to the next appropriate group.
Details of Global Finals Stages
Finalist Stage: September 29 - October 4
The 12 finalist teams will be divided into 2 groups of 6 teams each. Each team will play 1 match against the other teams in the same group. At the end of this round, the 1st ranked team will advance to the group stage, while the 3rd and 4th ranked teams will play a BO5 match, where the winner will challenge the 2nd seeded team from the other group for the last 2 spots. The final 2 qualifiers for the group stage will be determined in this way. At the end of the qualifying rounds, the 4 qualifying teams will be randomly assigned to existing group stage groups by lottery, and teams from the same region will not be placed in the same group.
Group stage: Oct. 7-10; Oct. 13-16
The four strongest teams from the qualifying rounds will be added to the 12 teams that will compete directly in the group stage. The 16 teams will then be divided into 4 groups of 4 teams, each of which will play 2 matches against teams from the same group. The top 2 teams from each group advance to the knockout stage.
Knockout stage: Oct. 20-23 (quarterfinals); Oct. 29-30 (semifinals); Nov. 5 (finals)
The 8 teams that qualify for the Knockout Stage will then go on to play the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals in that order. In the knockout stage, the tournament will be single-elimination, and all matches will be BO5. Matchups will be determined by a live draw on the last day of the group stage.
The winning team will be crowned the 2022 Global Champion.
