Sam suggests his alma mater to start a dance class and introduces Jack as the dance teacher. Sam meets Jack in a dance competition, and Jack's student Ching meets street dancers Durian, Root and Money. Ching has an overly disciplined older brother, "Kiu Shui Keung", who is afraid that Ching will go astray and fiercely opposes Ching's street dance, thus causing Jack to lose his job as a dance instructor. Sam decides to open a dance club so that Jack can continue to teach dance. The two brothers reconcile their differences, but the students cannot afford the tuition fees, making it difficult for the club to survive. Sam's friend Yuki admires the dancing skills of Sam and Jack's troupe and suggests that they perform at an arts festival and arranges an audition for them. At this moment, Root's condition suddenly deteriorates and Ching and Money have to take the responsibility. Finally, the troupe makes it to the cultural center, but by the end of the show, Sam and Jack's troupe is nowhere to be seen. ......
Sam, a film martial arts director, injures the leg of his brother Jack, who also loves to dance, in an on-set accident, and the relationship between the two brothers grows cold. Sam meets a group of street dancers at a cultural center on his way to a meeting with an international star and discovers that he has always been obsessed with dancing, and realizes that Jack can no longer dance due to his leg injury. When Sam visits Ming SIR, he sees that the students are obsessed with dancing and suggests his alma mater to start a dance class and introduces Jack as a dance teacher.
Sam and Jack meet at a dance competition outside the Cultural Center, where Jack's student Ching meets street dancers Duran, Gen and Money, and Jack realizes that Ching has a lot to offer. Ching has an older brother who is overly disciplined. Because of his complicated working environment, "Kiu Shui Keung" is neurotically afraid of his brother Ching's bad behavior and closely observes Ching's behavior and friends. He fiercely opposes Ching's street dance and suspects Jack, the dance teacher, of having bad intentions, causing Jack to lose his job as a dance teacher. He suspects that Jack, the dance teacher, is up to no good, and Jack loses his job as a dance teacher, and his students lose their dance practice space.
Sam decides to start a dance club and tries to raise funds so that Jack can continue to teach dance. The two brothers have a long history of misunderstanding, but now they are able to put their differences behind them. Sam's friend Yuki, who is a great admirer of Sam and Jack's dancing skills, suggests that they perform at an arts festival. She suggests that they perform at an arts festival and arranges an audition for them. Although Sam and Jack were only given a chance to perform for 4 minutes and 5 seconds, they rehearsed hard for the chance to dance on stage.
At that moment, Root's condition suddenly deteriorated and he was hospitalized. The troupe, which is preparing for an important performance, is suddenly missing two of its stage dancers. Ah Ching and Money must take the responsibility. Finally, the troupe walks into the Cultural Center. The moment of the performance comes, all the family members and friends take their seats one after another, and all the dancers prepare for their appearance in the backstage. However, until the end of the program, can not see Sam and Jack's dance troupe to appear ...... A group of young people dancing street dance, talent is not recognized by the community, but also regarded as undesirable elements, but by virtue of their own efforts, but also to get the help of Bole, and ultimately become Andy Lau concert backing dancers -!
This is an inspirational movie based on a true story. It has two titles, one in Hong Kong called "Give Them a Chance" and the other in the mainland called "Keep Dancing".
Usually, the title should reflect the content of the movie. Obviously, both "Give Them a Chance" and "Keep on Dancing" do that. However, they do not share the same perspective, with one coming from a social point of view and the other focusing on the personal aspirations of the movie's characters, which makes each one of them a good choice if you want to talk about aptness. It's a pity that it's not comprehensive enough, so it would be better to combine the two titles into "Give Them a Chance, Let Them Keep Dancing" ...... Oh, it seems that the name is a bit long again. As important as hard work is, it's just as hard to succeed without a chance. The young people who dance hip hop are mostly from "special" schools, that is, the so-called "problem" students, so it is really difficult to give them a chance. What is more, the discriminatory attitude of society towards them has not ceased so far! Dancing outside the square of the Hong Kong Cultural Center is said to be noisy and disturbing people's rest; students of "special" schools are regarded as hooligans with no talent; and worst of all, even some of the teachers of their own schools are prejudiced against them. In addition, when Root is discriminated against for being a mute and not qualified to dance, he shows his true feelings, which is one of the most touching scenes in the movie - don't think it has nothing to do with you, in real life, is there not a lot of different kinds of social discrimination around us?
The movie is a great example of how the importance of a good man can be realized when he is discriminated against in the eyes of the beholder. The movie's martial arts director Sam (modeled after Wong Ming-sing) helps his younger brother and a group of "troubled" teenagers start a dance club to get their dancing career on track because he can't get enough of his love of dance. As with his last cameo in "Golden Chicken", Andy Lau is also playing the role of his own reality, and he says in the beginning of the movie that he "opened a movie company in order to create a good environment to give newcomers some opportunities, so that they can develop in the industry". In fact, he did, the famous director Chen Guo is in Wah Chai's help, only to have the opportunity to make him a hit "Made in Hong Kong"; in real life, the group of young street dancers it is in Wah Chai's support, step into the Red Hall, Andy Lau concert accompanied by dance; even this real inspirational movie is invested by him to be able to shoot the completion of the movie. Therefore, no matter in life, or on the screen, Andy Lau is a bole, selflessly gave them the opportunity. Personally, I think this is the true attitude and approach of a public figure towards the talented and the underprivileged, and naturally, our society should do the same. A group of young people became addicted to hip hop dancing, and their love for it gradually rose to become an ideal to be pursued. The police stopped them from dancing on the street, saying that hotel guests complained that street dancing was a nuisance to the public, so they were na?ve enough to raise money to go to the hotel for one night to see if this was indeed the case, so that they could continue to dance; the reason why Jack and his brother, Sam, were once at loggerheads was because he was helping his brother to act as a stand-in on the set back then, and he was unable to continue to dance because of the leg injuries he suffered due to the accident; and Sam raised money to set up the dance club, but also because he wanted to use these young people to continue their own When not done dance dream ......
While "Keep Dancing" to no longer young Sam as the main story line, but it is still not lost as a full of vitality of the youth song and dance film. In the film, a large section of dazzling dance certainly stimulate the audience's passion, excitement, and durian, root boy, a square around the Minni four-pointed love, and ultimately because of the *** with the love of the dance career handshake, but let us see the youth of the necessary footprints of growth, as well as "continue to dance" for these four young people to say how important! The story of the four young men is a fascinating one, and it's one of the most important things they've ever done!
Director Qiu Litao, who is known for his ability to make films in a wide range of genres, has a tendency to stray from the mainstream of society when it comes to real-life themes, either through morbid depictions of society ("Barbecued Pork Buns with Human Flesh") or strong attacks ("Waiting for Tung Chee-hwa to Go Down"). This time, directing "Keep on Dancing" with its youthful, inspirational and positive theme, adapted from true events, it seems to have been categorized as a mainstream social reality piece. However, at the end of the film, Qiu Litao once again shows his old "backbone": he thought that the young people would have a glamorous performance on the stage of the festival at the cultural center, but he was cheated by the organizers who did not arrange for them to perform at all! Outraged, Sam leads the crowd outside the Cultural Center to continue the street dance, and dances the long-prepared exciting dance - this rational fictionalization of real events, although Qiu Litao intentionally to strengthen the film's sense of drama, but the ironic rebellion against the mainstream of society is also obvious, the street dance ultimately did not enter the "Temple Hall", the "Temple Hall". The street dance did not make it to the "temple" (cultural center), but it still received more enthusiastic applause from the audience than the cultural center. ......
Why not give them a chance? They just want to fulfill their dream and "keep on dancing". On a final note, I really liked the inspirational spirit of this movie, and it was made with sincerity and touching. It's a rare Hong Kong movie nowadays.
