"Reflecting the Red Mountain" Background:
October 29, 1973 to November 14, 1973, the composer Fu Gengchen composed all the songs in the script of the "Shining Red Star", completed all the orchestra accompanied by the general score, he returned to Beijing, ready to start recording the movie songs. It was at this time that Fu Gengchen found the third draft of the literary script of "The Shining Red Star" in the office of a meeting of the music team. One of the lyrics of the song reads, "I look forward to the dawn at midnight, I look forward to the spring breeze in the cold winter months, if I want to hope for the return of my relatives, the mountains will be red all over the ridge." The words made Fu Gengchen's heart pound, and he eventually made up his mind to write "Reflecting the Red Mountain Red" instead of "Holding the Red Star and Hoping for the Red Army" and "Welcoming the Red Flag with Fervent Blood".
Singer Deng Yuhua once sang an interlude in the movie "Tunnel Warfare", and all the tracks of "Tunnel Warfare" were composed by Fu Gengchen, who was so impressed by Deng Yuhua's singing that Fu Gengchen named Deng Yuhua to sing "Reflecting the Red Mountain". When Deng Yuhua received the song, she had never seen Yingshanhong before. In order to understand what Yingshanhong really looks like, she also went to the Botanical Garden and the Museum of Fine Arts to learn more about Yingshanhong, and eventually she found the emotion she should have felt when she sang it.
