History
The name of Yuexiu District began on June 24, 1950 (merged by the former three districts of Xishan, Dexuan and Xiaobei, whose scope was equivalent to the northern part of present-day Yuexiu), and it was named after Yuexiu Mountain, a famous attraction of the city of Yangcheng, which is located in the district.
On October 14, 1949, Guangzhou was liberated.
